Can someone explain to me why my rear tires rubs during slow corner turns?

I'm trying to figure this out. I'm running 20x10 ET11 on 285/30/20 for the rear wheels. The rear tires dont rub going straight nor even over speed/bumps but it does for some reason during 10-25mph turns, why?

I would imagine at high speeds for the car to roll and spring/shocks to compress potentially causing it to rub the fender but this is at low speed turns (like speeds driving through a parking structure).

Our cars don't have active rear steering right? Can someone please explain?

You'd be surprised on the amount of suspension travel even at low speeds, especially if the turn has altitude change (like going into a parking lot from the road).

i have a question, everytime I accelerate on a turn, my rear wheels vibrate and kinda grinds on the pavement, is this normal for a rear wheel drive? When I turn slowly it's fine...it's just when I accelerate putting some juice into the car...it grinds on a turn...is this normal?

What you guys might be experience might have nothing to do with 'rubbing' but rather normal rear differential characteristics.

Same thing I was going to say. I had the same issue when the car was brand new in 2008. Sounded like rubbing on something but I realized its the rear diff. I took it in to service and they changed the LSD fluid and I was good to go. No issues since.

It's literally rubbing. There are rubber streaks on my rear fender and its starting to making a visible line on the sidewall of my tire.

I want to figure this out before it chips the paint off my rear fenders.

The rear tires dont rub when I go over speed bumps, this is what I dont get (compression). I dont exactly drive over bumps at a crawl either, more like a "rolling STOP sign" stop.

Do you mind if I state the obvious? You have a bigger wheel and a bigger tire than the space that was designed for a smaller wheel and a smaller tire. I'm not a professional "pimp your car" installer but I have gut feeling that's what it is

Are you lowered? I'm lowered and my car does the same thing, but it usually happens if I hit a dip on the road. I'm running 19" 265/35 on the rears.

Your tire is 0.75” wider than the OE design, and your wheel has over 0.50” less offset. So, the outside edge of your tire is 0.88” further outboard than designed (.75X.5=.375+.5=.875). I’m surprised it’s not rubbing more.

the puzzling part is that is only rubs on slow speed turns. if it was really aggressive, it would constantly rub period; going straight, driving high speeds through the undulation of roads, making tight corners.

but thats the thing, it doesnt. only at speeds less than 25mph.

Sounds to me like the rubber marks and the sounds are not occurring at the same time. The marks are happening because of your larger tires and the sounds are due to your LSD and accentuated due to the larger wheels.

the lsd would make a noise at all times? i thought at most when the fluid inside is being swooshed around when one wheel slips.

thanks for all the replies anyone. really want to figure this one out.

but if lowered, you take the whole thing in another dimension.. just roll your fenders and be done with it if you did lowered.

What are your wheel and tire specs in the front? Sounds like you are running a really aggressive set-up (something I am considering doing) so your first hand experience/feedback is great...

There is no such thing as rolling the fenders on the m... the fenders come cut from the factory. AKA nothing to roll..
