Water meth injection
Question is why are more people not doing it on this motor? Lots of cars use it with great success.. I have the vf650 sc and as soon as my car gets hot, it drops significantly in performance.... from my research higher octane rating and bringing the iat's down with water/ meth should help greatly!
Is there anybody supercharged running it successfully? Do tuners support it? I've been looking at the aquamist kit.... Thanks! |

Some on the forum are using the Vishnu proceed kit. Search by that name and you should be able to find the thread.
I just super charged end of last summer so am curious if I "need" this mod during the GA heat.

Meth kit comes standard on the Gintani 2.5 kit, I run 100% meth no issues.

Tracking would be a different story, but thats across the board with FI on this engine.

The 650 should be running 93 octane anyway... A methanol system would greatly help your heat soak issues. The Proceed PWM system is fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to run it on a daily driver. Made a huge difference in my old SC M3.

Water/Meth doesn't yield a whole lot on an N/A car. It helps a lot more on an FI car.
I would get it if you live in a warmer area and are S/C. Cooler temps and more power, what's not to like? |

I think Vishnu is out of business and the Procede NLA. I have run one on my 08M3 naturally aspirated for 3-4 years and like it. Allows more ignition timing. Have not gone to a dyno yet but maybe this year. I have all the bolt on mods and am curious how close I will get to the magical 400 rwhp SAE Dynojet level. Very very few have broken that level. Many have come close.

Some people have simply added 2-3 gallons of E85 to a tank of pump gas. It will raise octane slightly, the ECU is able to adapt, and the car is more likely to hit its timing targets.

I know a lot of technology has changed since the '90s but it was known as a bandaid to poor tunes. i'd rather stick to e85 or pump tunes. a few cars in town are pretty fast on meth inj but the fastest guys are on tunes by a great tuner and e85 (mostly pro efi systems or aem inf. systems)

I don't think anyone in this thread has disputed the advantages of E85 and its superior ability to make detonation free power over 93 octane. But until every fueling station in the U.S. has it on tap it's only practical for track/demo cars, or if you live in an area flush with E85 pumps. Heck, I'm in DFW, Texas- this is a huge metroplex of 5 million residents and there are only a handful of E85 pumps in a 100 mile radius. For most- methanol injection is still the most practical for real world use. |

Yeah that's about the going rate for 100% methanol, but when I was using it in my old M3 it was a 50/50 mixture with distilled water. I think that's how most systems still use it. A gallon of the mix would last 400 miles in the car. So it's really pretty cheap- I ordered it on Amazon with free shipping.

And last time I paid for a gal (methanol), it was ~$15, IIRC. |
