09 or 10 M3 E92 Maintenance Costs

I'm currently in the market to buy an 09 or 10 M3 E92 and was wondering for those of you who own an m3 around the same year roughly how much has maintenance cost? I realize a 10 would still be under warranty but I'm just wondering what your guys experience has been maintenance wise. Also would an 09/10 M3 really be that much more to maintain vs an 11/12 335i m sport/turbo? Thanks for the help!

A lot of it is going to depend on if you're going to do the work yourself, take it to an independent shop, or the dealership. Oil changes will be the most common unless you track your car in which case, do brake fluid, transmission (MT only), and diff more frequently. Brakes and tires will vary depending on driving habits too. You can look up the prices on real OEM to get a ball part cost on parts. The rest is labor and that's variable.

The biggest shock to me was how much the parts cost vs my old IS300.

For example, an oil change kit is about $150 for just parts! I took it to a local shop and they did it for $220.

Another thing is brake rotors. This isn't every year, but the rotors are $300 each. Rotors for a normal 3 series are roughly half of that, < $150.

Also, tires are expensive in the M3 sizing, roughly $300-$400 each depending which brand/size you get. Plus its staggered so you can't rotate the tires.

Cars are very solid. You will find yourself spending few hundred here and there but nothing serious. Try to keep the kms on the lower side when buying a used m3.

Buy an STI. I had a 400whp 07 STI and that car only needed Gas, Tires, and oil, and they are butt loads cheaper than an M3.

Although I did change all fluids (trans, diff, etc) at regular intervals. But not a single issue in almost 100k miles on a DOM3 turbo.

Miss that car.

I feel like my wallet is constantly open for the M3, but hey, I like to whine.

My 2010 hasn't cost me a dime yest. I've had it three years, 37,000 miles driving April - November. Not only because of warranty but I've had no problems as of yet.

Appreciate the advise but I've always wanted an M3 and will most likely go for that if I can find the right one

ha! my prior car was an Evo 8. Everytime I come across an old maintenance receipt on that car I'm just thinking....

different levels of costs now. Everything with the M3 is sticker shock..lol. Air filters for $50, oil kits for $150. A bottle of the magic TWS potion is $13 compared against $6 for the Mobile 1 in the old days.

Literally, everything is doubled from a $30k performance car.
