Apple CarPlay/Android Auto Retrofit

Can anyone with this interface test or tell me what this "Front" camera option does? Does it activate the front camera if one is connected or is it settings for the cam?

I ended up redoing my whole ACP installation cause the new harness from Kremersino V2 required idrive connection where the current harness I had was a quad-lock harness adapter.



I also managed to put it in between the CIC and vents. It's a REALLY tight fit.

V3 is the latest revision of the V1

From Michael....
V2 only support AV version camera.
V1 supports all kinds of auto camera. AHD is best one.

Now please forget V1, V3 now intead of V1.
V3 equip DSP chip which enable best audio and calling quality（even better than original one）
5G transmit, more faster and stable

I told Michael, I'm done taking apart my car again. Unless they come out with something that doesn't require AUX in the center console, I'm probably going to stick with this one for awhile as it works as intended without much fuss right now.

A few weeks ago, Michael told me that their new listing is the V1 but with the "DSP chip" (whatever that is), and said that it requires a secondary microphone for carplay features such as siri/messaging/etc. I think smass is right, its just another revision of the V1. Michael said this uses the secondary microphone (and not the factory mic) for "better quality". Strange as I never had any microphone quality issues at all with the v2 unit which tapped into the factory mic.. and as I recall, the V2 unit's antenna was labeled 5G already.

Not sure if the "new" V1 is any better than the V2 unit - almost seems like a step backwards if it requires a second mic for carplay features. Curious to hear how things progress with this stuff.

The v3 website shows OEM mic as a feature so who knows? Maybes it's the v1 with OEM mic integration.

Either way I'm done taking apart my car for this until there is dramatic change that we'll benefit from like most integration for aux or something.

I'm going back to wasting money on go fast parts. 😂

Does anyone else's carplay keep cutting out randomly, sometimes audio plays up and sometimes just goes blank and disconnects carplay, I have the version with Bluetooth playback but I'm using aux. Happens regardless of wired or wireless connection.

I think you are right about V3 being V1 with OEM mic and high-quality aux audio quality. I have ordered 2 and will let everyone know when they arrive. My plan is to extend the aux-in connection to the back of the CIC and tap an i-Drive controller pigtail into the quad lock. That way when I upgrade again next year, I won't need to take the console completely apart. I will also test coding the aux in directly on the back of the CIC to see if it breaks the combox.

From what I can tell, the V3 uses the Quadlock harness already. The original V2 harness I had was a quadlock but the new harness with the OEM mic integration connects to the Idrive controller 6pin connector only. I honestly prefer that as that quadlock connector is a pain to tuck behind the CIC.

I have the same problem but only wirelessly, audio cuts out for millisecond. I’ve tried everything to solve it. I’ve
ended buying this, a 10.25 screen with integrated CarPlay.

The V3 has arrived but I have not installed it yet. It looks like it is a V1 with upgraded audio chip, external antenna and 5ghz carplay. No quadlock just the hook in with the controller. It came with the same external mic as the V1.

From what Michael said, the V3 can do OEM mic with android auto but not carplay. I will install this week and post an update.

That is disappointing that the OEM mic integration is not available with ACP. I'm happy with my V2 right now with the OE Mic integration right now. I'll need to check the WiFi but IIRC the wifi on the V2 is still 5GHz.

I know Michael said the V3 needs the external mic for carplay, but does the harness have the OEM mic wiring connectors?

I believe you're right, the V2 unit's WiFi was clearly labeled "5G".

Unless that "DSP Chip" is working miracles, it sounds like V2 is still the best overall solution at this point, although they're still charging more for the V2 than they are for the V3.

Haven't been driving the E93 much lately but still interested in how things are progressing with this carplay stuff. I actually prefer the E9x aftermarket carplay interface over the F36 factory carplay interface because the E9x aftermarket is full-width.. been missing that when driving the F36.

I need some help... I tried to do a software update on my kremersino v2. I put the drive in with both files in the root of the drive and started a MCU update manually (as told to), at some point the system glitched and returned to the CIC screen, now I can no longer get the ACP unit to display at all (holding menu does nothing). The phone is still connecting to the ACP unit (I see the carplay icon on the phone screen). I swapped out the files in the root of the USB drive and just put 2 MCU files in the root, and put it in to allow automatic update (which Michael told me about), and that doesn't seem to help any.
Michael hasn't responded to me in about 5 days, and now I have eseentially a boat anchor since I can't get any display from the ACP.

Any ideas at all?

Here are a couple of pictures of the V3. The main difference from a hardware perspective when comparing V3 to V1 is the external antenna and a connector for the front camera and other AV inputs. The rear camera input is still on the main connector. I did a quick test and the rearview camera input works. There is no wiring for integrating with the BMW mic.

I will attempt to install this ASAP. Phoenix heat is killing my garage activities.

It is definitely a different size that the V2 since the V2 has everything but the WiFi antennae on one side.

I have this unit (ordered in April 2020) and everything works perfectly except for the mic. I get an awful constant hissing noise that is present even with the mic cable disconnected, so it seems to be from the unit or wiring harness, but Michael is insistent that it is something else in the car that is interfering with it.

Has anyone else come across this issue or got any suggestions?

Does anyone have old update files for the Kremersino v2 box? Michael is telling me to go backwards, but doesn't seem to be able to provide me with older versions to downgrade too... Kinda a chicken and egg problem.
