The testing I'm outsourcing will most certainly show this relationship. I have my own data that shows this, but I want independent results from a company that does this all day, every day for almost all the major OEM's. These results will come soon-ish.

What it doesn't explain is why this happens far more often on screw-in studs vs press-in studs, and you all have read my hypotheses as to why. Users of press-in studs are working with the same exact lug nut interface geometry and not doing anything differently, yet rarely experience studs breaking. The "why," with data, is something that I'm working diligently on everyday. Developing a test regiment to simulate wheel stud/bolt fatigue testing at the loads and cycles seen on a wheel joint isn't something easily done. But, it will be done and you will all be the first to see the results.
I look forward to reading your thesis!

Well, I never thought I would spend a couple of hours l reading about wheel studs hehe. What a great thread. I have screw in Millway studs in but will likely change to 12mm press in hubs when doing bearings likely in a few months. I hope the nuts with the separate coat will be available by then.

As an aside (and not something I would ever do myself), but what's the deal with the guys who track on titanium studs? Are they safe?

No. The opposite of safe. What's the word....dangerous.

I would not use titanium for wheel hardware. It is way too brittle and stretches a lot. Read up on the material properties of titanium and you will see what I mean. In particular, look up the modulus of elasticity and yield strength. Here's a good summary:

Yes, pushing for mid June! All manufacturing has been very delayed as of late. We're in the midst of a rather large supply issue across the board.

We've completed torque-tension testing with an OE level testing facility with excellent results in conjunction to a few test mules running them on endurance racing and sprint racing cars.

I will be sending a technical email out to all our website members going over the test results and with an option to pre-order.

That being said, are people a fan of "high visibility" gold of not??

I like the option of gold and black haha

I dig them, I might have to buy a set for a set of screw-in studs for now until it's time to replace my wheel bearings.

They are almost ready. Finally getting them back from manufacturing on Monday and then off to the plating process. I'm hoping 3ish weeks. Sorry for the delay!
