Got a new diff installed the other day at the delaer, under my aftermarket warranty. It was binding up in tight turns and the tech said it was failing. Then drove it up to New York and back, and realized how much I missed her after two weeks in the shop.
Needs a wash though!

Took it out of storage last weekend. Installed the karbonius intake, rear bumper CF extensions and went on an impromptu 200km cruise.

Oil change and brakes next weekend.

I didn't have one, so perhaps you are right. Another, is to take out the battery long end, because it will be a bitch to try to take it out flat. Also, search under the holes of the battery tray; you may find a few extra fasteners.
Got it done today, found an incorrect battery was fitted. Windows are working fine but the car still knows there's a new battery - clock reset.

Changed the spark plugs at just shy of 39k. Everything was going smooth and I was feeling good about myself until I got to the passenger firewall. Had to fight with that mofo coming out and going back in. Plugs looked pretty good and weren't BMW branded so I'm guessing the previous owner had them changed too.

1. Your tech is a moron and
2. So is your warranty company.

The diff makes noises in tight turns because of the fluid in it. The old fluid doesnt contain friction modifier and this makes the lsd make noise. BMW released a revised fluid with FM in it, that eliminates that noise.

Good news for you is you gained a new diff based on their incompetence!

Early 2008 build here with no MDM. Installed IND's blue "M" button and "start/stop" button. Also, swapped out the steering switch from a donor E9X with MDM. Looking forward to have Alpine code MDM and install Alpines Stage 2 tune this week.

That is the supersprint sport euro spec. Looks like it's the same shell evolve used for the e-tronic. I think the baffle is different and it doesn't have valves on it. But I know supersprint make all the exhaust stuff for evolve. The front portion is a TMS prototype that never went into production it has 2 200 cell cats and four resonators. It not a loud exhaust system at all but sounds nice, not deep more exotic. My friends none of which are car people say they turn around expecting to see a Ferrari when they hear it, so I guess I go around disappointing a lot of people. Lol

Cheers Sammy. Had the OEM 2 pipe for 3 years, went Atak and back to OEM (non moded). Starting to lust for a tad (not more) sound again so looking around. Corsa have my kind of reviews but tricky to get over here. SuperSprint is available but haven't heard that much about them.

So, normally I might agree with you, except for the fact that the diff has had the revised XJ+FM fluid in it at least since last April when I had it serviced (and possibly for longer since I bought the car used in 2017), and it was perfectly quiet at low speed up until October. It was not a light noise - it was binding/grinding and something was definitely wrong. I was well aware of the TSB for the revised fluid from reading the forums.

And according to the service record, it's a brand new diff. I have to replace the fluid after the break in after 1,500 miles.

{EDIT} Certainly looks to be a new diff from the attached pics. Will check it out more closely when I replace the fluid after break in.

I dusted her off today as well. I have been doing a move/house renovation since last July and honestly haven't been doing anything with the M, its been dirty, salty and not used much.

But spring is here.

Wash, new black kidney grilles, new carbon rear spoiler, and put back on the Pilot 4s's, all in a days work!. Feels like a new car. These tires are so good.

Took LIM3ROK for a spin.
He purred a nice song and I played a little with the M button...which I finally programmed this morning after 9 months of ownership.

Don't you all ridicule me at once!
