Guys, I got a 2011 M3.

LOVE IT!!! Car drives like a dream, and can transform from a gent in suite to superman in a press of a button. I made the right choice! Thank you for all your input!

However, I was rear ended by some drunken driver last night.....

See post here: http://www.revscene.net/forums/65651...g-witness.html

No doubt I'm going to sue the bastards. I do have questions for you guys though:

1) DCT car must be towed with gear in neutral to avoid damage to tranny, right?
2) I will upload photos I took with proper camera later, from the photos on the link above, do you think the car is totaled? Or can the frame be fixed?

I am VERY sad. I just got her yesterday.

That is terrible!!! So sorry to hear. Is the damage really bad, ie write-off bad or can it be fixed?

That's what i am going to find out next week.

Man, I should have stayed in the garage to read the manual all night, instead of going out to drive on a halloween weekend.

Yeah...I was shocked. I only just get to know my M3, and hours later she's been hit.

I was devastated. For a few times I could not accept this fact. I saved up three years for her, only to have her smashed by some drunken fool WHO FED THE SCENE, ON FOOT.

I was panicking at the moment, and did not catch them fleeing. Good thing these idiots left their cayenne at the site.

that really sucks...hope your car gets fixed soon

there's no way that ICBC will write it off considering how much the car is worth

did you pick it up from london motorcars?

How do make sure the body shop would use genuine BMW parts? Should I get the car inspected by BMW after the repair?

I highly suspect the frame was bent. Impact was pretty severe.

Question: this M3 is DCT. Tow driver towed the car on it's front wheels. Since rear wheels are off the ground, does the car still have to be in neutral when being towed to avoid damage to transmission?

The car automatically goes to P when it's turned off. Put it into N and turn the car off. It'll automatically go to P. The car is also suppose to be towed on a flatbed....

Flatbed, because the front end is too low?

Super shitty deal dude.

Hope you're doing ok health wise. Been there and it can be a long, slow process recovering.

The car will get sorted out in due time, hopefully to your satisfaction, but take care of yourself, listen to the medical advice and document everything. While our system differs dramatically from the US one, I would highly suggest having some initial conversations with injury lawyers.

Good luck.

Oh man, that really sucks! So sorry to hear about your new M and that they fled the scene after the accident. Glad to hear it sounds like you are ok health wise - the car can be replaced/fixed, your health cannot.

I hope they catch the bastards and that you are not injured - please keep us informed.

Really sucks! Doesn't look like a write off though. Good luck with CIBC and get better!

I just came back from the hospital. CT scan results were good. I am still a bit light-headed, but apparently that should go away in a few days.

Next week I will be dealing with the insurance company and body shop on getting the M repaired.

Oh yes forgot to mention... No1 collision is good. I've used their Vancouver location on my M3 with no problems.

^^^That's good to hear. I know these guys are BMW certified.

How do I make sure they use authentic BMW parts?

Not sure about how to check on OEM parts. Just ask! I would only assume they do since they are recommended by BJ and are BMW certified. Didn't have any parts changed when my car was there. Let us know what the ICBC estimate will be.
