And I get text messages and emails in my 2nd hump too, and with BMW Connect, I get the news and weather through that same hump. I find my 2nd hump very worthwhile. |

I'm not sure what a nonav 2011.5 car can do? Does it do Bluetooth media audio with combox? Or is that not included with nonav?

IMHO, that should be the last of your concerns. The condition of the car is far more important. Whether the car has a sunroof or not, and what transmission it has will impact the value way more than what dash it has,
Personally, I prefer the dash with the screen. This car and the E60 are known for their double humps. Without the screen, I think it looks far too basic and it doesn't age as well as the E46/E39. All personal preference of course. I never use the nav on my 08 system, but I use it to navigate through my playlist all the time.

I'm in agreement here also. I don't see the draw to the single hump. I feel blind without the nav system as it gives you access to and control over so much more of the car beyond just the GPS functionality. I actually find the system to be pretty intuitive and user friendly despite its age. There are times when the GPS comes in handy when navigating unfamiliar road ways and knowing what is coming around the bend without looking down at your phone. I also find the cup holder that replaces the iDrive controls on the single hump cars to look/feel a bit cheap.

Single hump for me. Less distraction in my *driving experience. It was always going to become a track car anyways...That being said, I think mileage, maintenance, and price are more important. I lucked out with my find meeting all of my key desires: low mileage (and corresponding maintenance non-issue), good price, E90, manual, no-nav stripper, black on black. But, would I have made the purchase if it had nav? Hard to say now, but I think so given the rest of the package was still a very rare find on the used market.

I have a 2012 set up this way, with Bluetooth for calls but no audio streaming. Would like to add media streaming but am not sure how this is possible. Searching around and it seems there are not too many cars with this set up. Any advice on how media streaming might be added?

I have the Nav set up and I wanted EPS and love it. I don't think that you can get EPS without the I Drive.

I wouldnt buy an e90 without NAV and BT Audio. But i also dont intend to track my e90 at all. If i want analogue, I will jump into my e30.

I wanted the E90 with navigation simply for the ability to edit the M drive settings on the fly and steering settings for M drive.
With CIC, I was also able to add a 3rd party Apple Carplay Module and 'update' my tech. I'm more than happy with that decision.

Has anyone converted a 2 hump car to 1 hump? I really don't use iDrive and don't ever plan on selling the car. Love the clean look of the interior without it. Would love to pull it all out.

I'm also looking at doing this right now, haven't been able to find much data on converting from double bubble to single hump. I've had both dashes in the past and much prefer the single hump.. my questions include things like: - Can the head unit from be retained when converting from double bubble to single hump? - If the screen is simply disconnected what functionality will be lost and what error messages may come up on the head unit - If a 'base' head unit must be used, what features will be retained and how will the 'base' head unit work with the existing speakers/amps that make up the system? - Other than the dash pad/frame, what other components/pieces would be required for the swap? - What is plug and play, and what is not when switching between head units? Tragically car audio has never been an interest of mine, in this case, the car audit geeks would obviously be best suited to solve this mystery. |
