Any other Model 3+E92 M3 owners here?

Just curious, I'm splitting my time between the Model 3 and the M3 right now, both cars are greatly enjoyable

I got a ride in a Model 3 Performance last weekend and the off the line acceleration is absolutely stunning. We used full traction control so it just hooked and went with 100% torque right off the line. Pins your head right back to the headrest.

I’d say it’s in the very low 3 second range. But what makes the difference is that there is no ramp up to power. It might not be any faster than a nice running E9xM3 after a few seconds, but those first few seconds will put the 3 in the lead far enough to hold it through the quarter mile. The E9xM3 would start reeling in the 3 at some point but probably would not pass it until about 120mph.

Handled pretty firmly as well. And I know one of the car magazines did a mild overhaul to the suspension of one and made it handle even more firmly and sharply.

I am not ready for one yet but am impressed by the performance versions of the Tesla 3 and S and look forward to learning more about the Taycan.

Drove a M3P for a week couple months back, the initial acceleration is insane for the price.

The instant power access is a different feeling compared to E9x, as much as I love the S65's sound and 8k+ redline, but the electric motors are different in a good way.

Stock suspension is pretty good on the Model 3 and M3P, good balance of firmness and comfort, but the tires, tire size, and air pressure can also play a noticeable role. There has been rumors going around of potential new (air?) suspension option coming to Model 3, although Elon denies it lol.

I'm currently using V-rated Pilot Sport All Season 3, stock 235/45-18, and about 38psi instead of the factory 44. On first set of tires, the center area were worn out quickly with factory air pressure.

Haven't see nthe magazine suspension overhaul yet, do you know which magazine that was? I may need to look into it, but I have seen some performance coilover options for the Model 3, like custom Ohlins, not looking to get those YET but interesting to see.

A friend of mine with tons of track experience tried the M3P on track, he said the top end limit is lower on the M3P compared to E9x/F8x M3, but the M3P is easy to handle and really give you good confidence, and almost perfect if your primary focus is spirited driving instead of track.

M3P is impressive for sure, especially if you consider the price. Model S is due for a major facelift in a year or so, so the new version should be even more insane.

I haven't experienced the Taycan yet, but the good thing about Tesla is their supercharging network, with it's availability and charging speed it makes EVs actually usable outside of major cities, other EV players don't have infrastructures anywhere close to that yet.

Close--my daughter, who was a Tesla employee for three years, has a Model 3 Performance. I've only driven it once or twice, but can attest that it is freaky fast like Jimmy Johns. It's actually their second Model 3--the first was totalled when a lady ran a red light and hit my son in law broadside. It was a nasty accident, and the safety features saved him. Thanks, Tesla!

Beautiful cars, though I don't care for the front end. And, at the end of the day, an electric motor/electric car don't have the same allure for me as a fire-breathing beast like the S65.

Good to hear he's ok, Teslas are pretty safe as long as it doesn't involve any battery damage.

I'm not a big fan of Tesla's front end design, it's too simple and feel like it's missing something.

The electric motors on Tesla has it's own charm compared to S65, instant power but lacks the roaring personality.

But I will take a Tesla over one of the newer BMW or Mercedes with turbo 4 cylinders any day...

Just picked up a Y yesterday. Man autopilot is sweet. M3 is my track car, and the Tesla is quite a nice appliance.

Got to drive a Taycan 4S over the weekend and was thoroughly impressed with how it drove and the silly acceleration. Launch control was not THAT impressive, but from a roll, it literally felt like being on a rollercoaster. My friend was looking at leasing one and it's $1900 a month

Off topic, I know this is supposed to be about Teslas. I do think they make amazing DD's, but for an emotional/fun drive, I'll go with an ICE engine everyday.

I think the base SR+ Model 3 is the best car Tesla makes. The faster ones are faster, but not better. The steering unpolluted by torque from the front motor, the instant response from the powertrain with only two tires to push it forward through a corner, plus the lighter weight - it's a sweet, sweet-driving car. There's also no reason you can't track an SR+, it just doesn't have the nice benefits of track mode. Yeah the P is a lot faster, a LOT faster, but that just means you arrive at illegal speeds sooner and the power delivery isn't the fun part, The SR+ with a really sorted chassis on low-grip tires with rear drive and not too much weight (~3650lb with a full tank, lol), it's a 4-door FRS for $38k.

We went into the tesla dealer about a month ago thinking I wanted a Y as a family truckster, drove the lineup, ordered a Model X, lol, so we've done this the stupidest way possible. But if I didn't have my E90M, I'd skip trying to live it over again and go straight to Model 3. It's gotten that good.

How long until the first M car is all-electric? Gotta be under 10 years, right?

Yes, BMW will stop developing and ceasing R&D budgets for ICE engines especially low volume ones.

We're all getting close to the end here boys. In a way its nice because I think several cars have hit their limit with how fast gas cars can be and a new world awaits.

By 2040 economy cars running full electric drivetrains will be faster than our E90 M cars.
