What "directions" are you referring to? My spoiler didn't come with directions. All I'm wondering is what parts of the diffuser the Betalink goes onto.

I put it on all of the flat areas on the bottom of the spoiler. If you do a test fit, you will see where it sits. The key is to get it located front to back in the correct location. The first time I put it on forward more than it should have been and had to move it.

As you probably know, the betalink stuff is easy to spread so use it sparingly.

Directions are in betalink kit ... use them to get familiar on how to apply it ... that is all what you need to know ...

If I wasnt going to use Betlink and decided to go with 3M tape is there any specific one that is recommended more then others? When I put the M3 spoiler on my 335 I used double sided tape but it was really thick and didnt stay down very good. Maybe I just used a cheap product or didnt clean the surface well enough but I know I dont want the same thing to happen this time.

3m sells an "automotive" line... the plastic backing on it is red. Comes in 1/4 and 1/2 inch varieties. You'll need both probably.

That said, i just did mine with 3m tape...and i'm not thrilled with how it's holding. I'm contemplating removing and using betalink. Or redoing the tape!

What exactly are you not thrilled about? Is it kinda coming off in some spots? That is what im afraid of. My car is not a lease but I am still unsure about putting something so permanent like betalink on it. What do you think? Are you concerned about how permanent betalink is?

Yes, the ends seem to have a little too much "play". I was on the fence with a CF lip on my AW. Now that it's on...i'm 90% sure i like it and will keep it. That said, either my application of the tape wasn't perfect or it's just not that effective! I just hate the idea that if i want to remove it...it's pretty much permanent and has to be ruined to be taken off.

I'm gonna speak to a body shop about alternatives... maybe there is some sort of silicone that is less permanent?

Well I just installed my spoiler today. I went ahead and used the betalink. The stuff is really sticky and can get everywhere if your not careful. It very much so resembles tar for those who are unfamiliar.

It is a very good thing that the betalink kit came with betacleaner because that stuff works really well to clean off all of the extra goop.

Anyway, it came out looking really good! I will post a pict tomorrow.

This is the spoiler available through BMW Perf parts, correct ?? Looks great, by the way.

You wouldn't happen to have the BMW CF Front Splitter on there would you ? Anyone ?? I'm trying to find some pics of what that looks like on Alpine or Mineral White.

Thanks.

Yeah...that's the BMW Performance CF spoiler.

As for the splitters, I know I've seen some on an AW in the pictures forums. May try looking in there underneathe the "color" sticky at the top.

Hi,

I have only taken 1 picture since I installed the BMW CF Spoiler and the front splitters.

I will try to take more pictures this weekend. As soon as I take them, Ill post it here

The rear lip spoiler is OEM from BMW performance, but the front carbon fiber splitters are from eBay. Same OEM quality and 1/3 the cost from BMW. This is the seller from who I bought the splitters. Great quality: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Any questions let me know.

Regards,
Alex

I installed my performance spoiler with 3m tape too. I noticed that the middle of my spoiler has what appears to be a crease or line in the middle of it. Its hard to see, but at the right angle, I can see it. Take a look. At some angles it looks MINT. But as you can see, at a certain angle, I can see a crease down the middle of it. Should I go exchange it?

normal looking at this angle.

Mine is oem ad has the same line/division from the Carbon Fiber, and it's oem.

While my Front Splitters are carbon fiber, replicas from
BMW performance and are flawless.

People think because the front Splitters are not oem is not quality, let me tell you I've seem both in front, and people can't tell any difference.

The trunk spoiler is better oem, but the Splitters that are in the lower front and can scratch, tear or break easily, is better to go eBay 4AMotor than oem. $230 shipped to your door. If you break it you buy another set and still haven't paid $800.

Just my 2 cents.

Well its good to know Im not alone, but that sucks too! I was a little disappointed it was so flimsy. They should have made the middle more solid.

I agree with you 120% on the front lip. Those get hammered so why not get replicas. But I plan to get a full lip. Not just the corners like the performance version from BMW.

All of them have that crease in the center of it. I just bought one and it has it as well. It is not defective.
