Amp question

Anyone know how to troubleshoot a bad amp ? My car have no sound but I want to make sure before I buy a replacement amp.

Will the fan on the amp suppose to be on when Ignition ON ? My fan is always off even with engine starting ? Normal or bad ?

Do you have any sound at all? Door chimes? Seat belt chime?

If there is no audio whatsoever you have a bad amp or a break in the MOST system.

The best way is to scan the car for current errors and go from there. Also check the fuse panel in the glovebox for the amp circuit.

Edit: that doesn't look like the right amp our cars come with. Looks like someone replaced it with a F series amp. It doesn't even fit the bracket.

Check all fuse and they are fine. No sound from door chimes or sear belt.

The amp does fit the bracket. All wiring harness fit perfectly. I just removed it for pictures. The car have no error just no sound anywhere. Either amp failure or speakers failure ? Anyway to test it ?

Thanks

The fan only turns on when the amp reaches a threshold temp.
Do you have power on the large 2 pin connector?
Do you see a red light from the optical connector (disconnect it to see) when you unlock your car and/or have the ignition on?

Silly question, but is the big 2 pin power connector fully plugged in? The pic looks like its not completely seated.

i agree it does not look like the 2 pin connector is fully plugged in, it also has electrical tape further down the line= maybe a poor splice

If there is completely no sound, including door chimes, etc, it's almost certainly an amp fault. Speakers won't all blow at the same time.
