Not surprised at all...Kobe playing over 47 minutes for the past few games and pretty much playing 40+ minutes all season. It looked like he sprained his ankle a couple times yesterday. The 3rd time, his leg just gave up

i think kobe can recover, and finish his career as a role player, perhaps off the bench (he can still shoot). but the days of fast cuts and espn dunk highlights are over.

lakers would have had a fair shot at the championship this year if they signed phil. threw all their chips to get nash and howard but somehow forgot about the coach. with this injury and an aged steve nash, a team that now sees gasol as its leader (at best he's the 3rd option on a top team)... it's time to rebuild.

Antoni couldn't contain Kobe's pride. Antoni doesn't have the guts to bench Kobe. He lets Kobe decide when to rest and when to play. I really think that Kobe should of rested more after the injury from Jones. Seems like everything went downhill since.

One of the funnier things to me happened near the end of the game. The Blazers leave noisemakers on the seats of all fans behind each basket so they can be obnoxiously clanged together when the visiting team shoots free throws. That's pretty standard practice in the NBA. The amusing thing was when the Lakers fans were using them while the Blazers were shooting free throws...for whatever reason this made me laugh pretty good.
You could hear the "lets go Lakers" chants very clearly on tv. Idk as a laker fan, I enjoy hearing "beat la" when they're playing a tough road game lol

Kobe is the man. Already has surgery and will make sure he comes back better than ever just to prove everyone wrong. Dude is amazing and sick motivation.

good - i'd rather see the Lakers in the playoffs without Kobe than a resurgent Mavericks team with Dirk and a bunch of very capable scorers....

Unleash the beast. Howard and Gasol is more than capable of carrying the Lakers. No Kobe =more touches for Howard and Gasol in the post.

^Gasol 3-17 but with 16 reb. Not really carrying IMO, but whatever works.

Gasol had the best game this season on Friday with a triple double. He didn't have a good game today but Howard was getting a lot more touches and they were able to play inside out.

Looks like OKC just solidified the 1st seed. I don't think the Lakers stand a chance against OKC with or without Kobe.

with Kobe out, they really have a much stronger team now. Here we have one the best point guards of all time throwing it in for the twin towers of the new era. Now this team deserves to be in the playoffs. I have said this a million times, the ball moves much better on this Lakers team without the ballhog and as a result will be a much better team.

After watching the Lakers beat the spurs, I feel like the team is taking way better percentage shots than they did with Kobe. Kobe of course provides an "ace card" on offense or defense, and they are definitely better with him than without.

BUT... with the outside threat of Blake, Nash, and Meeks, and Gasol, and Howard being so effective in the key, the Lakers have a pretty good attack that not many teams have.
