Just had a buddy commit suicide

One of the guys I went to high school with just killed himself tonight. He left a suicide note on Facebook and when the cops arrived there, he was gone.

I could have never imagined anything like this would happen. I wasn't really close with him but it's hard to grasp the thought of somebody taking their life at the age of 21.

He accomplished so much. He joined the military. He wrote a book. But he did have bipolar disorder. He was doing so well with it and then all of a sudden he's dead. It's really sad.

Sorry man. I truly am. One of my best friends is similar, has done so much, but is bipolar, she's attempted it 3 times. It's a nightmare each time, it's just sad knowing one time she'll succeed. Remember the good, but don't ignore the psychological causes for things like this.

as it's been described intimately to me, bipolar is manic highs and depressive lows...to the extent you don't ask oneself "is something wrong with me" lows, but the no longer want to exist lows. I've witnessed the highs myself, and they are equally disproportionate. It's an unfortunate psyche to live with, to say the least.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know how hard that can hit a circle of friends, and I feel your pain.

I'm really sorry man, really one of the saddest things that can happen. One of my childhood best friends did the same awhile back, and i couldn't stop thinking of what i could've done differently to help him. My condolences.

I don't want to know the specifics, but was his fb status a clear-cut "I'm going to commit suicide" message, or was it something indirect?

Sorry about your buddy man.

Sorry to hear this.

You said he used to be in the military. The military is having big issues with this, something needs to be done. Just here at Fort Bragg I think they said in the last week or so, they had four suicides. It's horrible.

They make us all sit through the mandatory training, but people keep killing themselves. The training isn't really helping anyone, it's just the military trying to cover their own asses.

Until we start really helping each other, it will continue to happen, and it will hurt just as much every time.

Bipolar that severe would be awful. You just have to remind yourself that the low is temporary and you'll get through it and have fun again.

North Royalton. It's rated the best school system in the county but some of the craziest things happen to people here.

He was discharged from the military because of his condition.

My college room mate was bipolar and was in the Army. He committed suicide by jumping off a bridge (Golden Gate).

Being bipolar is a serious condition I think that a lot of people don't understand.

Wow! ....Sorry about your loss. Tragic and painful ...So was his disorder the main cause of his pain and suffering (and eventual self demise)? ...Or was it something more?

That's really sad, man.

I have a person in my life very close to me who is bipolar. It can be difficult sometimes, but it's important that people who have it are surrounded by people who understand it.

Sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to have someone you know take their own life. My cousin committed suicide a few years ago and it left everyone in a state of disbelief and in shock. It opens your eyes how precious life is and that you should never take anything for granted. Take chances and just live your life while you still have time.

Suicide is such a horrible situation. Truly sorry. He honestly sounds like an amazing writer too. Very well spoken. A shame to lose someone that seems to have had so much going for him. No stranger to bi-polar disorder here. My good friend from back home and his little brother had it. Very draining state of mind for the sufferer.
