New Battery Coding Yny or Nay

Was under the impression that our batteries need to be recoded, but the shop that is installing it for me said as long as I'm replacing it with an AGM battery then no additional registering/coding is required.

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, this is the battery in question:

No, you need to get it registered to the car. Do you want to risk strange electrical issues or error codes randomly popping up?

Yes, it must be recoded.

What is done is the computer is told it is a new battery so it can unlearn the old battery. It optimizes charging based on battery condition.

It's recommended you do it as there maybe risk reducing the lifetime of the new battery.

For what its worth, I recently replaced the battery in my 2011 335 from BMW who indicated that as long as you replace it with the same battery, there is no need for coding. It's been two or three months and I haven't noticed any issues. I'll be doing the same thing on my M3 when I pull it out of storage.
