Poor Günter Schilling. I bet nobody here would want to trade jobs with him.
Cheers. P.S. for the humorly challenged: this is known as satire.

It is awesome to see M division finally bowing out and saying farewell to motorsports and pure, race-bred engines with a huge bang. It just does not get any better than this. What a fabulous way pay tribute and to say goodbye to high-revving race-bred. After seeing this video, I really wish I could hear it in real life. The sound of that car is to die for. I don't care what M division will do in the future to the F10 M5 or M1 or other M cars, it will never give the goosebumps or the adrenaline rush that the wail of this motor gives.

How hard would it have been to make it a flat crank?
In the new Roundel, Dinan states that if BMW had used a flat plane crank in the S62, he'd get Ferrari 458 type power out of his 4.6 stroker.

440 Nm is just too little for a 4.4l with Ti exhaust. The 4.0l with Akrapovic exhaust gets 440 Nm. The 4.6 l strocker kits make 500 Nm, 108 Nm/l, so the 4.4l could at least make 460 Nm, 105 Nm/l. And if to leave it at 440 Nm, than it would have to start earlier than 3.750 rpm, let us say 440 Nm from 2.000 up to 8.000 rpm without turbo.

"You are simply dying to push the gas pedal to hear the sound of the engine and drive faster and faster. Its like a virus."
Ah yes, so why don't you build an M10 supercar, to push the gas pedal even more and drive even faster? BMW, your top sports car will anyway get smoked by the R8 GT. Last edited by BMW269; 05-13-2010 at 08:04 AM.. |

Autoblog has some more info on the GTS. They said the roll cage is bolted in??? I thought that was a no no for track cars?
