Got this email from bmwnavcodes a few days ago (I copied and pasted)...

Hello. For those of you that appreciate having the latest Navigation Map in your BMW, I am happy to announce that BMW Road Map North America PREMIUM 2018-1 was just released.

If you would like to update your map to the latest version, I just need you to confirm the car's short VIN (last 7) and provide payment.

The cost is $50.00 USD, payable via PayPal to email address, "bmwnavcodes@gmail.com" (preferably made as "Send money to friends and family" and not "Pay for goods or services").

Upon receipt of Payment, I will send you the Map Update FSC Code, Map Download Links, and detailed Map Update Instructions.

Regards,
Gerry

Cool. $50.00 seems great. What does the dealership charge?

I don't know, but I'm sure it's considerably more than that. I updated my 2011 maps a few months ago with this company and it was painless. You'll need about 4 thumb drives, or just one big one if you're smarter than I am. Highly recommend.

Thanks McSwine. For $50, I'll give it a try.

I didn't get it from them but its working fine. Realistically you need the FSC and download the maps onto 4 min 4GB drives.

You need to enter a FSC code to install the maps even if you find a way to get it some other way. You can get an FSC code from any Navigation reseller or BMW themselves.

Is there a torrent for the map data itself?

I did mine the other day. I have a Lifetime code and downloaded the map data which i was able to find online. Copied it all onto a 32gb USB drive and just kept dropping the next disc files on the root so only needed a single 32GB drive. Took about an hour to finish.

Where did you get the map? All I could find was CIC map for West Europe 2018-1!

Cheers

Where did you guys get the FSC code from? :/

Also, getting the map from torrent - can it lead to any issues if I take my vehicle in for any work at the dealer?

they dont really care, unless u had head unit issues and they had to reset it or something, then their database would only allow the "paid" version of the map loaded

Making sure I got this right. You simply put all the files onto the same 32GB drive? That's a helpful tip. i wonder if my 128GB drive will work.

Make four folders on the USB drive, Disc 1, Disc 2, Disc 3, Disc 4.
Take the contents out of Disc 1 and put them in the main directory and insert the glove box USB drive. The navi should pick up that you inserted an update.

Once it asks for disc 2, remove the USB drive from the car, put it back in the laptop and move the disc 1 files back into the disc 1 folder and then move the disc 2 files into the main directory and reinsert the USB drive.

Just keep repeating that until all discs are complete.

If you have 4 USB drives that are large enough laying around, that would work too.
