Combox Retrofit - Repinning Help!!
Hi M3post,
Recently bought a CCC M3 - got a CIC kit for an amazing price and couldn't pass up the upgrade!!!! On my car right now, I have a CIC head unit installed (still using the CCC knob till I can find a center console replacement) Last week I had the chance to pickup a combox, but ran into issues with the install, here's where I'm stuck How do I repin the existing wires to the new socket? Not sure if I'm being too gentle with inserting the wires into the socket, but I can't seem to get them in.... (haha) From my CCC install, I know that for the CIC screen, there was a latch that you'd have to open in order for you to stick the wires in (See attached)... however for the Combox socket - I see no such latch Appreciate any advice/help I can get with this retrofit! |

They should click in, as long as you push them in facing the right direction. The little pins that hold it in place need to face up.

On a few I have had to use a very small micro flat blade screwdriver to push them in far enough to lock. You just don't want to force it and bend the pin. They can go easy, or be very tight.

Appreciate the help! I'm going to try using a dental pick to make sure they fit, great news to know that I don't need additional M/F connectors. The pins should fit all the way in right? Last night when I was trying, they were only inching up to the first hole, vs all the way to the end at the second hole...LOL apologies for the rough description |

New update for those who are curious: I managed to get the combox fully funcitoning, note that the connector that came with the retrofit kit (white) was simply not accepting new pins - had to buy a new connector for everything to work smoothly, part #'s below:
