Passenger seat does not Recline

I have a strange issue; my passenger seat will not recline (forward or back). When you push the button you can hear a faint "click" but no action. All other functions work just fine.

I took the seat out and manually powered the motor for the recline function, and low and behold it worked. So it's not the mechanisms. I am thinking it is either the button itself (unlikely) or the ecu underneath the seat.

Anyone else had similar issues?

I did on my E46, was so bizarre. Sourced a used motor which did the trick. Since the other functions worked I ruled out the module/switch.

Thanks, I tested the motor by powering it directly and it worked. So I know it is not the motor. At this point I now suspect the switch control and have since ordered one. I'll post an update once I swap it out.

For any future readers of this post let me save you $$ and so you don't blindly buy parts like I did. The issue turned out to be a bad control module underneath the seat. If you hear clicking and something doesn't move, that is likely your culprit. After replacing mine, giving it a sec to sync to the car (no coding needed) my seat reclined. I took the old module apart hoping to find a broken solder but it all looked good, so I am guessing one of the relays went bad or is stuck.

Sigh*.
