OEM sliders manual v's electric and fitment questions

Hi,

I've read some excellent posts about using the factory sliders with Brey Krause mounts when using a fixed back seat but I have a few questions.

My M3 has electric sliders and I am considering using manual ones to maximise weight saving when I change the seats to Cobra Nogaros.

I've read a post (Obioban I think) where he mentions the OEM sliders with a single motor (for fore and aft) and the BK mounts weighs 14lbs.

I believe there are 3 motors on the M3 seats. Do you simply remove the other two?

What is the weight differences between the manual sliders and having the single motor with the electric sliders? Or how much does the motor weigh?

If the weight is significant I would look to buy a set of manual sliders. Unfortunately BMW only sell the entire lower seat assembly including the sliders together which is expensive. The part numbers for the M3 (52107139031 / 32) are different to the other E9x models (52107118424 or 52107139026). I am now looking at second hand seats but I am not sure whether the sliders would all be the same or not.

Therefore which manual sliders would fit the E92 M3?

I'm assuming they are shared across multiple models and LCI or pre-LCI is irrelevant but it would be helpful to hear from people that know.

I got my oem manual sliders off ebay. I believe that 1 series and 3 series have same sliders, if i remember right from when I first did the research. Pre-LCI/LCI didn't matter. Not sure if you've seen this thread or not but there's a ton of discussion here.

I don't know if this helps, but for the E90's, it's the same mechanical slider for the M3's and non-M's for the whole production run.

From what I understand, you're only going to lose 1.5-2kilos, per side, going from electric to manual. So a stripped electric base may actually end up lighter than a manual one - those manual adjusters are stout to be able to move with 250+lb drivers in the seat

I've got a feeling you are correct but I want to be certain before I start buying any more parts.

I read that thread in depth and others like it - I spent a couple of hours trying to find the answers. The information from SYT_Shadow and Obioban has been very informative and just leaves me with the questions I posted above.

Thanks. I tried those part numbers in realOEM but nothing is found.

Instead it shows

Drilling into part 52107139031 (I didn't do this before ) shows that the entire seat base was shared by the E81 , E82 and E92 and E92 LCI. It weighs 12.9kg

The part number for the electric seat base in 52107274466 / 67 and weighs 14.5kg. It was shared by the E81 , E82 and E92 and E92 LCI.

So it looks like you are correct on the weight difference depending on the weight of the (single f&a motor).

It's worth a call to BK themselves.

By now I've installed BK seat rails on 3 cars: the E92, the E90 and the F80 CS.
The E92 and E90 both had manual seats (not by accident I'll add) so that was quite easy.

The F80 CS came with stupid electric seats. Although the BK mounts work with electric seats I wanted to switch to manual mounts.
I bought some used ones off a regular F30 and then swapped the mechanism over, so now my setup is manual

Only one motor is attached to the slider— the rest are attached to the seat.

Thanks. I presume the difference between the manual and electric seat bases plus the weight of the motor will be the weight saved going manual v's electric.

Do you know how much the motor weighs?

I'd like to sit around 2 inches lower in my E92. Is this achievable with the Nogaro seats and BK mounts?

The power motor slider weights ~.5 lbs more than the manual slider mechanism.

BK makes different mounts for the Nogaro than other seats:
