Requesting help from ISTA experts!

Hey guys!

Okay, so where do I begin. I've been having ABS issues and emissions issues with my car. I tried swapping out the 02 sensor that was called out, some wheel speed sensors, fuses, but nothing has worked so far. I decided to try my hand at ISTA+ and the "EasyBMWTools package" that Mike put together.

So I followed all instructions, have the program on my laptop (windows 10), downloaded all the files required, reg edits, and unpacked rheingold to C:\ . However, when I open ISTA+ (in admin mode), it opens normally, but after putting in VIN information then will hang on the "test vehicle" button or w/e it's called. It goes to the next page, but what I mean is it remains blank. I haven't waited more than a minute or two here, but I don't see any progress or status icons, so I assume it just is not connected to the ECU.

I'm paraphrasing because I am at work, but it essentially says something like "Can not identify vehicle, try again."

I Bought a KDCAN cable that was decently rated on amazon. When I plug it into my OBDII, it shows an activity light on the serial end of cable.

So I am unsure if it:
  • works, but can't connect for some other reason
  • doesn't work and needs to be replaced, or
  • one of the above, but ISTA was installed or being used wrong.

Can anyone help me out? I would really like to try and solve this ABS issue this weekend. Also, I am in South Maryland if anyone is close and wants to help in person

Check your USB COM port settings. It should have latency of 1ms and the COM port match the one in EDIABIAS.

As I said, I followed the directions to the T. Set to COM port 1 and latency is 1. Any other idea?

Make sure on ediabas hardware setting, you choose the transfer rate of 500kbps CAN instead of just usual 100kbps.

Let me know if it works, goodluck

Okay, I will look for this. Would the transfer rate prevent it from connecting at all though?
