ED Delivery
Hey guys i have a question for the people who did ED. I just ordered my car last week, but i feel that my dealer doesn’t know much about ED. So he told me that the date i chose is confirmed but i didn’t get anything in writing (he said he called them). I also asked him about the buy one get one free promotion (for the airline), he said he doesn’t really know how to do it but I should get a package in the mail from BMW that explains the whole ED experience. But i still haven’t got anything in the mail, and I dunno what to do because i need to start planning my trip. So for the people that did ED, how does it work now?

Dealer doesn't have anything to do with the 2 for 1 Ticket deal. That is all through Lufthansa. Contact them with this Number: one, eight eight eight five five two four five zero eight. You will need VIN or Production number to book the ticket.
Also, Check this link: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25 There is a wealth of information on ED on that forum. Follow the links to the wiki and you'll find out everything you need to know. Good Luck, and Enjoy!!!!! Hands down, the best trip you can take with your new Bimmer.... |

The ED process goes like this: - You give the dealer 3 dates that you want to take delivery at Welt. - Dealer confirms w/ ED that your date is available (usually the 1st date should be available). There's nothing in writing to confirm that. - You can also request a specific time for pick-up. I did the 1st available time which was 7:30AM. - If you want to play safe, do NOT buy your ticket yet based on your confirmed pick-up date. You still need a production # and CONFIRMED production date. - Keep checking in with your CA for the production # and confirmed production date. - After you get your production #, buy your tix and reserve your hotels. - You will need to sign a PO (Purchase Order) about a month before your pick up. This is the most important document you need, so make sure the dealer knows. Remind your dealer if they still haven't asked you to sign the PO a month prior to pick-up. Double and triple check your model and options are right on the PO. An inexperienced ED dealer can screw up. If you visit bimmerfest almost everyone will suggest you to go with an ED specialist to avoid all kinds of problems that could happen for an ED. So, it would be helpful if you are informed of the whole process. - Sign your finance/lease papers about a week or less before your pick-up date. Do not let the dealer make you sign the finance papers 30 days or so before or your payments will start too early. Good luck and def check out the ED forum @ bimmerfest. It has all the info you'll need to plan your trip.

Some how, no one has mentioned the wiki yet, which is where you'll find about 99% of everything you need to know.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index...opean_Delivery Search through the forum if you can't find what you need in the wiki.

Sadly, yes. Purchasing outright or financing - same thing but with financing, your first payment is likely offset by a month or so...unless you get a great dealer like joakym's above. Either must be accomplished by the day you visit The Welt and take delivery. And to add insult to injury for us Canadians, as soon as the car was off-loaded in Canada (Halifax, N.S. for me), I had to start paying the insurance which was 2.5 weeks prior to me receiving the car here in Ontario. Oh well, the fun you'll have will sort of make up for the extra cost.
Enjoy!!! |

I guess what I am trying to figure out is is there an advantage to buying the BOGO or should one scout around for fares from all other airlines...for any given flight dates. |

It depends. During high season the BOGO offer is likely cheaper, and vice versa. However this is not always the case, so you should always scout around.

For the record, we are doing ED. Lufthansa will give you some of the best rates guaranteed with their bogo offer. Problem is that they don't have alot of space or dates for these flights, thats why we went with a travel agent that came within 70 dollars of the lufthansa quote on another airline.
