Never realized the mirrors fold up after pressing that little black button near the mirror adjustment. Fancy.

Check out PelicanParts as they have a ton of DIYs, and can buy much cheaper parts. $800 rod bearing kit and a few tools to check - https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1333638. And you can turn that $100+ oil change to $60-$80 if you plan ahead and do it yourself.

I get the appeal of the warranty, but WHEN the warranty is up, and all you got was some silly window regulator replaced for “free” ($100 job), ---- that could’ve been money for actually replacing your rod bearings, brake parts, and an oil change. Do as much as you can by yourself so when something does happen, it doesn’t seem as bad.

Do you know 100% that it states anything about covering rod bearings?? If it’s not in writing, it will be a hell of a time getting it covered. And is the repair done? Only select 3rd party shops? Are you reimbursed or does USAA pay whatever the shop says?

Just joined, and looking to move up from my 328i coupe to an e92 M3.

Took two 2013's for test drives over the last couple of days along with an M235i and an M240i, and while the newer cars may be just as fast (and maybe even a bit quicker thanks to xDrive), the M3's were absolutely intoxicating!

I'll read through this thread to see what advice I can use in making a decision on which one to buy (or to wait for an even better one), but if anyone wants to chime in on must have options, best years and/or most important considerations, please don't hesitate to post your suggestions...

Great thread. I'm coming from a Z4. The E92 M3 is my first M car (recently purchased) and this is only my second BMW. I'm in love with this thing but I realized after dropping off my daughter this AM that it is way too much car. It's a pent up beast. This needs to be tracked. Who was the driver of that car in the video of the original post? Is he on here? Awesome driving!!!

Nice write up. I purchased mine last month. First M car ever. Had a 325 before, so this was a big jump in power. Loving every bit of it.

Paint peeling around the valve cover oil fill seems to be pretty normal, isn't a sign the car overheated at one point or anything.
