Garage Queen check-in
There is a High mileage 08 report in, lets hear from the garage queens and track virgins.
I know letting these cars sit is not good for the these cars but for whatever reason I‘ve seen many 2011s and 2012s on the forum and for sale with under 20k miles. I bought mine 2012 with 15k. Today almost one year later she has 19k miles. I don’t daily drive mine, because I have a 75mile round trip commute in ATL traffic and I have a daily driver for that commute. When I’m not sitting in traffic, I’m traveling, the only time I get to enjoy my beauty is on weekends when I’m not running around to home depot or going to the kids games. What is your queen’s story?

Brought mine last august 2013 - 4500 miles. A year later at 11000. I also commute 55 miles a day with my beater due to the area I work in. But I tried to take it out most days. Wash it every chance I get 😄. I might keep it forever but don't know what else to do after exhaust and blower.

Mine is 1 of 4 cars in the family. Between job, house, wife, 3 kids and Left over time spent Mountain Biking the M lives a quite and pampered life but always is at the ready for a fun fast drive, a night out or a Sunday cruise.
Washed her Sunday and gave her a blow dry after Saturday night out on the town. If u post a story then post a pic. |

Ok, my M3's have always been my fun, after work/weekend cars. They've been my garage queens for the past nine years. I've had 7 M3's since '06. I'd take them out to work occasionally depending on the job. My current daily is a smoking hot Turbo Ford Escape (that gray thing). It's loaded down with test equipment and tools...not something I'd subject an M3 too. My M3 is up for sale and a great catch for the next owner....The cycle continues.

Came from a 2008 M3 with 65k miles. Just picked up this 2012 Frozen Silver Edition with 11.5k miles on the odo. Have a 700mile road trip planned for the weekend (will probably tape up the front end for bugs & rock chips) but it won't be my daily driver and will be storing it through our harsh winters.

Here is my machine. It's a 2011, bought new, probably one of the first post-LCI cars made, as I ordered it the day the website changed over.
It currently has 23k miles on it, and has just passed its 5th birthday in May. It has some track days on it, but now it's really just a weekend car that I take out on the roads by me. The car is stored in winter under cover, with a battery tender. Despite the new F80 being a more solid car overall, I find the E9x to be not to much slower but having much more character. I'll probably keep it forever.

bought by 08 3 years ago it had 18k on it now has just 21k, most of the miles were from the first year where I did couple of long trips with it. I think the last 18 months I only put 800 miles on it
still smells new on the inside |

Yes, I had the same reaction on another thread about winter storage but I kid you not....coming up on the 6th (or 7th?) winter---the past winters it just sat in the unheated, subzero often, garage with only a car cover on--original battery, no trickle charger and it has started in the spring (usually 6 months later) EVERY TIME FIRST TIME. Apparently that is not the norm....but it sure makes me happy. I'll let you know if I just jinxed myself......

Bought my 2008 November of 2014 with 9,500 on the clock.
Here's the first day that I brought her home: Sat on a trickle charger and styrofoam storage blocks so the tires stayed true. Took her for her first spin in April and immediately started modding. Here's how she sits as of last week at roughly 12,000 miles.

Here's mine, a 2008 with only 19K on the odo. Never seen rain and only comes out on sunny days. My daily driver is a MK6 GTI with 375HP and 360 ft./lbs of torque that still gets over 30 MPG.

Here's the tale of our garage queen. Knowing that the end of the naturally aspirated V8 was imminent, I factory ordered a 2011 E90 M3 at the beginning of 2011. It was ordered with every single option including extended Fox Red leather and the competition package. I opted for the manual transmission, and since this was a "2011.75" build, came with a few other niceties including BMW apps.
Since this is one of four vehicles in the household, and coupled with the fact that I often also have a company vehicle for work use, the M3 sees little time on the road. Indeed, it only has 1250KM on it to date which is about 800miles. Next week, it will be four years since we took delivery. Every year, I have the oil changed, and have had the "break in service" done too. It is stored in a heated garage year round, and only sees duty in the most perfect of days. I still have all of the shipping paperwork, labels, and tracking details for shipping both by ship and rail. As the single owner of the car, I can account for almost every day that the car has been in existence. The car has no modifications whatsoever, and is as factory fresh as the day it left the factory in Garching. The techs at the local dealership are mesmerized by the condition and mileage, and I'm frequently approached with offers to sell the vehicle. I realize that this car isn't an "investment" and that it depreciates every day that I own it. It wasn't purchased for those reasons. Indeed, it was purchased as an icon nearing the end of an era, and the visceral emotion it stirs on the occasion that I drive it. This one's a keeper, and I don't foresee mileage increasing significantly over the lifetime of this vehicle. Thanks for reading! |
