15,000km service... $6000

Hi guys,

Just trying to prove a point. A friend of my brother told me that the 15,000 km service (Consisted of brakes, and oil) cost him $6000.

Is he full of shit or what? $6k?!

Am I missing something here? I am yet to pay over $1k for any service on the M3 to date. Although I must confess I am yet to replace the brakes or pads. I've done 26k km in my '07 M3. Oil changes are around $500 in Perth. Are the M3 brakes that expensive? Pardon my ignorance.

FMD you must be driving your family around in your car every time you drive for your brakes to last 26,000km. Mine lasted just over 8,000km before I had to change them, although it did include two track days.

Agree with what the others say about walking out of BMW service feeling like you are being screwed. They are rip off merchants and I don't really want to go back.

If pads or discs are worn just get the parts from the US or something if you want to use OEM and get a local mechanic to change them...or do it yourself, it's not very hard

Mate, we were stirring you up! But these cars aren't cheap to run. An oil change costs me around $700 - and I choose to do it every 6 months, regardless of what the CBS tells me.

Not true Rossi, the Castrol oil our cars take costs $70/litre. So yes, there is the bigger capacity engine but it's not as if we can just go down to Super Cheap Auto and buy a bottle off the shelf.

Just on that, is anyone aware of whether we can actually buy the specific oil for the M3 anywhere other than the dealer?

Jeezus - Last time I looked it was $25/L!! And that was only last year! Unfortunately I think it's only available from BMW.

The whole point is you give him and other local shops a chance to compete for our business before going elsewhere

That said, below are online prices to help us consumers leverage our bargaining powers.

here is the OEM micro filter from turner for $40AUD (of course shipping will cost more)

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-15...r-cleaner.aspx

here the Air filter is $44 and the oil Filer $25
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0

Or you can get an E92 M3 oil change kit (9ltrs oil plus oil filter) for $140 US
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462

Even if you paid $100 shipping thats still $240 for 9 litres of oil plus filter.
Rossi, thank you very much for this info. I can't believe it's possible to get the oil change for only $250.

Buying in bulk is where the money savings are. 10+ cars all going in for a 6 month oil change will be cheap as chips, and plus you get the stamp in the book which is what really makes a difference then buying online and DIY

If I lived in Melb, I'd be in on this too.

I think I paid about $480 for an oil change when I hit the one year mark. BTW - I'm on 21,000km now, done two track days and STILL on the same PS2s and brake pads! Must not push hard enough.......

Dont worry about Sydney, seems like most of the h0m0s there drive a 1 series and no one has a M3....

Just wondering how much for the following item shipped to Melbourne 3000, Australia?

Item Number: PKE92M3OIL
OEM BMW E90/92/93 M3 Oil Change Kit

Also, If i was able to organise a group buy, how many units would you require for a group discount shipped to Australia?

Hey,

Since these already have barely any mark-up, we can not offer better pricing – no matter what kind of qty is ordered.
USPS is charging around $105.13, thanks

Ev

So how did Totti get it for $35 shipping?
