You figure blower, bracket, belt and tune about $4kish? I've got a vt2 625 kit that I have yet to install and it needs a tune. Debating waiting for this, if it's +50torque on the low end I'll wait. I've spent enough on software over the years on this car.

Looks like one of those pics has a belt driven accessory pump on it, is it an oil pump for a dry sump kit? Assuming that is for the big boy 1000hp kit.

I kinda see where you're coming from with the tuning as this isn't a motor that is easy to put a stand alone ECU on and have someone tune it. I mean that one guy with the blue E90 I think it was threw the Gintani twin turbo on his car with a stock motor rolling the dice and he eventually bent a rod. His posts didn't blame Gintani at all for the damage.

ESS tries to save people from their own stupidity

We have seen multiple cases of people blowing engines and then blaming others. Like the idiot with the 650 kit doing pulls on 87 octane, etc etc etc.

Perhaps you would not complain to ESS but most people are happy to lie and cheat to save themselves the consequences of their own stupidity.

Please remember that quite a few of the people 'posting things' have agreements with the tuning company in place. Don't be naive

That guy was trying to win a Darwin Award... the limits of the stock rods are pretty well understood, he just wanted to do it anyway

Not yet, pricing will be announced closer to release. We'll start a separate thread when ready.

He knew going in that pushing 11 PSI could bend the rods on his stock motor. He wanted to see how much power he could produce. He was running E85 too if I recall correctly and hit about 730 whp.

Not yet. Been chomping at the bit to get a firm date but ESS won't release until it's perfect.

Yeah he wasn't doing the stock motor any favors running close to 500tq if I remember correctly. I just feel the S65 community really hasn't pushed the limits of the stock motor like other communities have. Partly how hard it is to tune and partly how expensive a motor is.

I think you are about right when it comes to pricing. I have a 625 installed already and for me to spend ~4k is something I won't do. Other people might disagree but I can spend that on something else for car. I am even still on the stock x-pipe.

Get a catless X-pipe on there pronto, leaving a lot of power on the table.

Any predictions on when boost curves, compressor maps, and dyno graphs will be available? Vortech has a bigger supercharger that fits the existing bracket so an improvement in boost curve or compressor efficiency would be required to be an upgrade to the existing kits.

Seems like a Camaro guy is getting good results with the new ess supercharger. Can't wait to see what it does for the M3.

Yeah just wish for those wanting to push the mark they would let them I currently run a smaller pulley on my ess kit. And also larger injectors. I’m probably one of the second or 3rd to run full e85 on factory fuel pump with a blower on an actual tune not the flex fuel gimmick afd sells. This platform could be so much faster if companies were so tight hold on things like this. I get it make customers sign away warranty and support if they make the choice to go pass your recommendation seems more reasonable.

I agree that it would be nice if they allowed people to sign off and try more wild things

One of the problems with doing so on the S65 is the relatively weak connecting rod. ESS and VFE and AA have found a safe limit. Add more torque and people may complain about the hole in the block.

It would be nice to have the same ESS 650 kit but lighter. I don't feel I need more power, but shaving weight for the same power will be excellent results as well.

I don't have an M3, but I wanted to chime in that the G1 is very light and quite compact. Time will tell as to how well it holds up. It does have chatter at idle, I'm hoping it will mellow out as it breaks in, but I've heard worse.

Does anyone know anyone running one yet? I'm looking for someone to compare notes with.

Can you offer feedback from your previous setup to now?
