Extended warranty
I have a 2011 M3, 22,000 miles and have one year left on the factory warranty. No track, daily driver, put about 7,000 miles per year in the car. Was at dealer for service and they want $3600 for a 7/70000 extended warranty. The power train plus. What do you guys think about extended warranties? My inly concern is the engine. I'm going long with the car.
Thanks.

I am in the same boat, same year etc...
I am going with USAA covers everything for around 2,200....if your ex military check it out. Cant go without a warranty on these things, too many expensive, German, moving parts...if they break, the 2 to 3k warranty, will seem cheap for what you gotta pay out of pocket.. There are an extensive number of threads on this and many of us have contributed our opinions, experiences, pricing, etc. I would suggest searching "Extended Warranty" and reading up. Good luck.

Define far more? I am about to pull the trigger on my USAA extended plan (comprehensive coverage), 60 months from purchase or 70,000 miles on the odometer. I am quoted $3,071. My car is a Sept 2010 build (MY2011) with 35,800 miles and the factory warranty expiring Oct 8th... Based on my current driving patterns that is roughly four years of extended coverage.
Yes, it is $800 more than the M3-S65's numbers but FAR less than the almost $6,000 quote by my dealer for the BMW plan...

I typed in "extended" in the search field and came up with this:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=extended http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=extended http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=extended http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=extended http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=extended http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...light=extended I'm tired of copy/pasting all the other ones. Mods should just lock this thread.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I got the quote online. Gave the mileage, replied yes, I was the original owner and no, the car had never been declared a total loss. The website indicates the quote is good until May 27th... This is for he 60 months, 75k warranty.
For my car, the quote on the 48 month, 100k was around $4,100 but I am away from my computer and will confirm the actual number shortly...
