M3 S3-R - Window Auto down/up not working

A month ago I purchased a 2011 E93 M3 with the full Dinan S3-R kit installed. It's an amazing beast of a car, and much better than I expected.

I am a DIY'er and looking forward to tinkering. Today, the driver's side door window did not automatically lower and raise about one inch when the door was opened and closed, even though it worked perfectly yesterday. The window still goes up and down properly when manually operated, and the passenger door window works perfectly. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?

I have downloaded the 3 manuals (Owner, Supplemental and Quick Reference) from the BWM website but there is no technical info in these manuals.

I would also like to get the Electrical Schematics and Service Manual for the 2011 E93 M3. Anyone know where I can purchase these documents?

Thanks for your help ... Jim

so the window is all the way up and and is hitting the trim as you open/shut the door?

if i had to guess, its probably not the window mechanism, but a function of the door handle mechanism that "knows" when you're pulling on the door handle. not hard to replace, but time consuming.

With the door close hold the window down button until the window goes all the way down, lift your finger for a second then hold the button down for a few more seconds ( you may hear a sound) then close the window all the way, lift your finger when it's all the way closed for a second or two then hold the button up for a few more seconds.

Open the door with the window all the way up and see if it comes down a bit as you open. If it does, do the other side. Make sure the doors are closed when doing this.

I was skeptical about your remedy but it worked first time ... thanks very much. Where did this procedure come from and is there a document available that identifies other similar functions?

The window regulators (or computer controlling them) needed to relearn the top and bottom position of the windows. This is not unusual for many cars with power windows. Usually the need to relearn this is due to a lengthy time with the battery disconnected.

Sorry, I can't tell you where I got this method but it was 100% on M3POST somewhere. I think I had to get my FWM reset and this fixed my window issue. It will happen from time to time this method should fix it most of the time.
