not meant to thread-crap but you guys do realize that this thread is almost a year-old right?
and the OP's signature now shows "Dinan Rear Exhaust, Secondary Cat Delete, Dinan High Flow Carbon Fiber Intake, IND Painted Reflectors, BMW Edition Grills" so im guessing he already made his investment

Just for perspective, I'm $2k in already with just M performance grills and a used Eisenmann Race w/ connecting pipes. Debatable whether this rear section exhaust or any other actually make any power. In my case the throttle response is a helluva lot better.

Looks like OP was poorly informed.
Secondary cat delete: pointless /money wasted. Test pipes (primary cat delete): big HP gain and 0 smell if you keep the rest the stock midsection intact = happy driver and happy wife/kids. So in answer to the original question of "mods that would give me better HP/TQ for the same money": _Intake _Pullies _Test pipes _Tune You can do all that for WELL under 3500. I got all Macht Schnell stuff. Soon to get a tune and I couldn't be happier already |

Springs, Exhaust mod, Primary cat delete and Tune. That will get you the most bang (looks, sound and power) for your $3500.

drop in filter and pulley best proven bang for the buck (hp vs money spent) if want to stay compliant with emissions laws (and maintain good citizenry). Then would go for tune.

California guys with test pipes:
Is there a way to clamp back the primary cats when smog time comes around? Having to "weld" the cats back on and then having to re-cut them after passing smog doesn't sound that appealing . A nice alternative is for somebody to sell a "clamp kit" for the factory cats so that this process is as easy as pie in the out years. Last edited by Top_Gear; 11-29-2012 at 04:37 PM.. |
