It depends. For the E92, most definitely. For the E90 which is a much rarer car, especially with a 6MT, slicktop, ZCP for example, the market is much higher. Our cars are entering that "provenance zone" soon where treatment since new (i.e. low mileage, all records of excessive care, garaged 24/7, never in bad weather, etc) will become increasingly valued in the market.

Agree with above post. Looks like E92 has dropped more in value than E90, which are harder to come across on the resale market. I paid a premium for mine, and 4 months later there has still been no sign of one on the market out here.

Yes, prices in the low 30's are more common. The above poster is correct that well-maintained cars are starting to carry a premium. I was pretty happy with my purchase because the car was basically in brand new condition and I was able to get it for market value-ish. It's unheard of for something with 50k miles and 5 years old. Bought it from a female in her early 50's who didn't let it see rain for the first 3 years of its life. Every bolt and nut on the car around suspension, brakes, etc. is still factory silver color. No oxidation. Crazy good condition. The car was 5x better in person than online.
When purchased: October 2016 1-owner car, dealer maintained. Owner daily drives a Macan turbo so most miles were twisties/road trip Year and Model: 2011 Melbourne Red E92 ZCP Miles: 51k Options: CF roof (standard), fully loaded, extended leather, EDC, etc Transmission: 6MT Price: $36k

New Zealand, so a bit different to US market - anything newer than 2009 is really uncommon, and has held its value fairly well.

New owner of my car posted it few weeks ago.
Prices definitely dropped a LOT from summer. I had a wholesale offer for it in September which was higher than what I sold it for in December private party. Right now is winter so of course prices dropped, but they are NOT going to increase in May so we will be seeing a lot of cars for under $30K soon enough. |

I basically got the same car a month ago without the frozen paint for $42,998 (pretax, so if your price was with tax, you stole that car). Last edited by young dude; 01-04-2017 at 04:35 PM.. |

Hello all. I finally picked up the car that I have been working on obtaining since August. It was one of very few light colored E90 6MT ZCP's I had seen for sale since August, and it happened to be local.
The seller was kind enough to hold it for me when I had an unexpected expense requiring me to back out initially. He said he wanted it to go to "a good home". I'm glad I made the right first impression. When purchased: 1/4/16 Year and Model: 2011 E90 (Built 10/28/11) Miles: 60K Options: ZCP, every option I am aware of except for extended leather Transmission: 6MT Price: $35,500 |

Interesting to see private sales of E90s going for a much higher premium than BMW dealerships are selling them for.

I am in the process of buying a 11 zcp 6mt private party and it's a little more than some others I have seen online at various used car dealerships. Some are actually quite low, but those worry me for some reason. Confused. |

Fast forward to today and finding a well-cared for, one owner, garaged, low mileage 2011 E90 M3 with a 6MT is a very difficult thing to do in today's market. Total 2011 E90 M3 imported is only 2170 cars, and only about 650 of those are 6MT. Finding that very well-cared for low mileage 2011 6MT sedan out of the 650 is very difficult in today's market.

Year and Model: 2008 E90 M3 Sparkling Graphite Miles: 67K Options: Loaded Transmission: 6MT Price: $28k + taxes Car isn't perfect (4-owner, no records except for carfax, fender bender in 09), but it runs like hell and should be lots of fun on the track. |

I even flew out of state to drive a couple (non ZCP's), which turned out to be in rougher shape than I was hoping for. It was certainly a strike of luck to find the right car in the next town over. I shopped for about 6 months in total, following autotrader, ebay, car gurus, and forum classifieds, and only saw 3-4 cars for sale meeting my ideal specs the entire time. The price I paid was on par or even a little lower than what the other comparable cars were going for. I feel very lucky that I nabbed one before they all got beat up. It is everything that I hoped it would be. |
