Has anyone purchased the KW height adjustable spring kit?
Hi all, has anyone purchased the KW height adjustable spring kit?
Curious to know what you all think and if its worth it. I'm not necessarily looking at coilovers at the moment. The car is my daily commuter and I probably won't be tracking it. Car has the standard EDC dampers which i'm happy with Cheers everyone! |

Almkst all lowering springs on the stock suspension makes the car rides like shit. People tells you that it rides better are the ones that likes to lie to themselves and make excuses for being cheap.

The problem with the M3 is that from the factory , the suspension does not have a lot of travel. Lowering the car makes it that much more difficult. Getting the right springs, e36 bump stops, and shortening the top hats is the only way it would make sense to lower the car with just springs while still having enough suspension travel.

For whatever it's worth, I'm on Swift Spec R and Bilstein B6 EDC for several years and it absolutely does not ride like shit. I'm happy and most importantly my wife doesn't feel the difference even after telling her.

I just picked up a ISC Coilover kit for $1k
Comes with camber plates. Slightly more than the KW HAS route I was planning on going with. From what I saw on YouTube it seems to be the best bang for the buck but I guess I’ll find out. |

I’ve got the KW height adjustable spring kit and like it a lot with no complaints with ride handling. It comes with the correct bump stops and with the added bonus of being able to adjust the ride height and keeping the edc.

I have the KW HAS for about 100 miles now. Feels the same or close to stock.. maybe slightly harder.
What I don't like: There's more metal on metal (ie:spring sitting on the collar) so, deep pot holes or large bumps/ridges could make a clang sound. Rare but I heard it once and knew exactly what it was. To adjust the rear spring height, you have to relieve ALL pressure from the spring. This means you have to remove the bolt on the wheel carrier and the bolt on the bottom of the strut. Once you remove those bolts, you can push down the camber arm to loosen the spring and spin the collar.. The wrench they give you is pointless. What I like: It's adjustable, duh. Fronts are easily adjustable. It was cheaper than coil-overs and it certainly doesn't ride like shit. But maybe I'm lying to myself.

I put some thin double sided tape (carpet tape) in between the rear spring mount and the chassis and added thread grease on the spring collar.
I can adjust the ride height without having to remove the bolts or the spring mount spinning. Last edited by M3 hacker; 07-27-2020 at 03:11 AM.. |
