Bluetooth stopped working - help!
All of a sudden my Bluetooth on my 08 M3 stopped working. It doesn't show any phone configured on the phone list and if I try connecting a new one it just never pairs. I'm able to go to the pairing screen and start the pairing process but the BMW Bluetooth never appears on my phone.
I have tried with 3 different phones, even an old iPhone 4 to make sure it's not a phone software issue. Is it possible that the Bluetooth antenna just died? How can I fully reset the iDrive to factory settings? It's weird that all phones were erased from the phone list but everything else (frequent contacts) is there. Any ideas are welcomed.

Try performing a battery reset first.
If that doesn't work, you might get lucky with a software upgrade, but it's probably a failed or failing TCU module.

Tried the battery reset but had no luck. Does a new TCU module require coding? Or I can just buy a used one with similar specs and expect it to work?

OP, any resolution? I have the same issue.
I'm brand new to the BMW world....and I feel like I'm living in opposite world from Honda/Acura. After 3 months of owning the car, I tried navigation. Then I looked to stop the navigation. Ummm, don't see anyway to make it shut up. After 3 days, a note popped up asking if I wanted to cancel the navigation....Umm, yes I do. |

This is my first non-Honda car after 20 years. Reliability is surely not on BMWs side.

Did you ever get this fixed? Was it an iPhone running iOS10, and did your iPhone name have a non alphanumeric character in it? If so that is the cause - change your iPhone name to something simple, no punctuation or symbols - was speaking to the dealer today and they have been having a number of issues caused by this - I changed my iPhone name, and it fixed the pairing issue, and the issue where not all of my contacts were showing!!

I plugged my phone in to the USB jack in the center console for the first time yesterday to let it charge while in use. Ever since then, it won't connect via bluetooth for music. It works for making phone calls, but the music icon on the cars screen is grey where the phone icon is lit. Any advice to reset this? I forgot the device on my phone, but would like to reset on the car as well as re-pair entirely. Any help would be appreciated!
