I actually like the idea of this car. I am by no means a Nissan purist so my next comment should come as no surprise, I would like it better badged as an Infiniti.

Maybe it's just the perspective of the pic, but doen't anybody else think that car is one of the ugliest things they've ever seen?

Corevette Killer? I don't think so.

The GTR may be faster than a Z06, but the base Vette with a Z51 suspension remains a stunning value at around $45k. The LS3 in the 2008 is a hoss of an engine. MT clocked it at 12.5 @ 115 in the quarter. It'll spank pretty much anything within $20k.

A true Corvette Killer would do the job for the same price.

I like the car and I am glad they are finally bringing it to the U.S., and I think when they say Vette killer they mean the current z06, not the base 45k model.

I think the GT-R is going to be a beast with the all-wheel drive and based on the reputation skylines have had, but who knows.

Unfortunately it's not just the angle of MT's cover. More shots have been leaked and I must say: the production car doesn't look nearly as hot as the concept.

How many here would take this over the M3... My guess would be very few unless you're looking for AWD.

Personally, I think the interior is horrible and Nissan missed the mark with the exterior details (the front especially). This just doesn't look like a $60K+ (?) car to me.

I agree with the person that said this should be badged as an Infiniti. I'm not sure if the brand is there yet, but I do eventually see Infiniti coming out with a line to rival BMW's ///M models (I'm thinking the GTR's powertrain in the G37).

I dont think it's anywhere near as cool as the R34 GT-R, but maybe this car will prove to be a long run winner, like the Supra.

I don't get calling it a Corvette Killer, when it costs more. :iono:

Ideally it should cost less, but at the very least it shouldn't cost more. I don't doubt that this is a great car, but calling it a Corvette Killer seems to be overkill.

What dont you people understand. It is in the price-range of a Z06. A Z06 is a Corvette the last time I checked. It is a 'vette killer for sure. There not referring to the 45k vette. Sheesh.

hmmm. The 2008 Z06 is just as fast and costs about $15k less. Whoever mentioned the new M3, you must be joking. The M3 wont run anywhere close to mid 11s and trap in the 120s stock. Would still take the Z06 in a second over either.

If the head lights weren't soo exaggerated and the front bumper was fixed then it would flow much better IMO. I bet the second gen will look much better..

Without a doubt this car is going to be a serious monster when tuners get a hold of it. Before they were capable of >1000whp w/ 2.6L... Imagine what they can do w/ 3.8L :eyebulge:

not to mention it going to come with something like 3 different engine outputs; so its likely only the $80k+ steriods version will be the Z06 killer

The last time that I checked a Z06 was ~$70k, so I guess that I just don't get it. :iono:

Anyway if it's as fast as a 911 Turbo, why don't they call it a 911 Turbo Killer? I would think that comparison would get even more attention than the Z06 comparison.

The GT-R is definitely a beast, but if I was already spending $80k I would probably just up the ante and go for a R8. If you're spending that kind of change you might as well get what you really want. :biggrin:

Why? So you get a shiny infinity badge for people to see in order to impress them or something?

I'm glad it's badged as Nissan. The GTR's roots came from Nissan long long ago and it's only right it stays as Nissan. It may not seem like a smart marketing plan for some but point is the GTR has history and is a street legend. It's for the enthusiasts.

This car is for those who like the Japanese approach to speed; technological innovations bludgeoning the road into submission. An ///M is a very different means to the end. If you get it, and like it, the GT-R will be a real halo car, a real performance bargain. If you don't, you'll buy something else.

I think it's cool. It don't think it would be my choice at 80k, but I certainly can appreciate it.

Yeah you still dont. The GT-R is under 80k. It puts the car within spitting distance of a Z06 pricewise, not to mention it has 2 back seats.
