Need help with aftermarket head unit (chimes)
do you know how to reset or change the sound the car makes when an alert appears I.E low fuel, no seat belt or fault tones.
after putting an aftermarket cd player in my car the nice bmw chime noise has changed to a really annoying high pitched beep does anyone know how to set this back to default or what could have happened. it now comes from the back of the head unit instead of out the speakers. i have a 2008 e82 1 series 120d Erisin ES3840B head unit everything works on the new head unit, reverse cam, bluetooth, cd player, touchscreen all other sound through speakers etc i just wish the alert tones were the normal bmw chime from the speakers. if they cannot be changed back can the sound be coded out so that i only see the alert on the dash and be rid of the anoying tones ? any help or suggestions appreciated |

yes I never got a response from them after 3 attempts i gave up.
I think im going to go down the rout of coding and spend the next 2 months trying to put together all the info i need to code these out. it seems there isnt a quick easy guide on how to code these out for a beginner. if it wasnt suck a crappy tone i would just ignore it but its a really irritating sound. I just need to research if i disable the sound will i also disable the alert on the dash because i dont want to ignore the warnings just silence them. |

I had same problem with my e90 but after digging it more I found the problem was not in BMW system but in music player. In my car whole sound system connect via music player and whenever car has to give any sound alert either it is parking sensor or warning lights, it routed via music player. So annoying sound is generated by music player.
All you need to do is to check it within you music player if it is configurable. In case of android systems it is easily configurable. |
