Need help upgrade stock AMP
Hey guys, i had some water open up in my trunk and messed up my stock amp. Now i get no sound at all not even a beep from opening the door. What aftermarket amp is equal or better than the stock amp?
Thank you. |

It's not that simple. I would first try air drying it and see if it will work.
If you really want to replace the amp, you'll find that there is definitely more involved that pulling it out and putting something in its place. |

Yikes that is what i was affraid of. I tried air drying it but i still can't seem to get any sound or even a beep from the door opening. Does it really control all that? Every sound etc?

Yep all sounds go through it. To go with an aftermarket setup, there are several things you would need depending on what system you have.

Is your AMP a HiFi amp or Enhanced Premium sound?

Here's pics of the AMP I have - produced 9/11 and sitting here for months. I bought it to retrofit it to my 2008 M3, and had no idea that the wiring was different for the enhanced premium sound between 2008 and 2012 models. So it became an expensive paperweight for me unfortunately..
I would disconnect your current amp if there is water damage to prevent it from back-feeding the car or something to that effect. The part number is 65127845163 Part Number 65127845163 Part Name AMPLIFIER FOR INDIVI MSRP $1,371.80 Core $0.00 Save $230.47 Online Price $1,141.34 That's the cheapest I was able to find it online. It's really a top notch high quality amp. Personally I wouldn't go aftermarket but that's up to you. Make me a reasonable offer and it's yours. Mike

At least you can hear the engine more now! Like I said, if you offer something reasonable the AMP is yours. Plug and play of course and you'll be good again. Water and electronics don't mix!

You have a car that's roughly 80K... with a $3000 Premium Audio package that's carefully tailored to the car... and you want to put in a $400 aftermarket AMP?
As Tech said... "people amaze me". +10

Be real, please...
Even if you do the aftermarket conversion and recoding you will be looking at a minimum of $600 in equipment and install parts and no labor. And only 10 out of 16 speakers will sound after that... |

How was i not being real? That is why i created this thread, because i had no clue about this stock amp thing. I had 3 BMW previously and had system installed easily with upgraded amps. All under 500. I have never just had to replace an amp though, that is why i created this thread to get some knowledge. Just because i paid 60-70k for a car i have to pay alot for a amp?
