Nov. 8 Central Texas Meet & Drive
EDIT: The meeting point in Austin has changed to the Circuit City parking lot at the corner of MoPac and Braker Lane. This gives us a little more space, and the Austin bimmerfest crew already had a meet planned there, so it'll be more convenient for everyone. See below for the new directions.
Several of us from Houston and College Station are interested in doing a meet and drive on November 8th up to Llano for some of the best BBQ in the state. The starting point will be in Hempstead. We will then drive up to Austin via the backroads for a pit stop. A couple of Austinites who have expressed interest in meeting up can join us there. We will then drive up to Llano for a BBQ lunch at Coopers. Here are the details: Start 9:30 AM @ the McDonald's in Hempstead off of 290. The address is: 1005 Austin St. Hempstead, TX 77445 We will take a few pictures and try to leave by 9:45 AM. Pit Stop Between 12:00 PM and 12:15 PM @ the Circuit City parking lot on the southeast corner of MoPac (Loop 1) and Braker Lane. The address is: 10515 N. MoPac Expressway Austin, TX 78759 We will fill up, grab some snacks, meet up with any Austinites who want to join us, and try to leave by 12:30 PM. Final Destination 1:45 PM @ Coopers BBQ in Llano. The address is: 604 W. Young St. Llano, TX 78643 We'll grab lunch, take some more pictures, and everyone can decide how they want to return to their respective destinations. The following is a link to a map of the route that I've planned out. Obviously, this is subject to suggestions and modification. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2369172 Turn-by-turn directions for the Hempstead to Austin segment (135 miles total): West on US-290 for 47 miles. (Pass through Brenham) In Ledbetter, exit and turn left onto FM 1291 for 7 miles. Turn right onto FM 2145 for 10 miles. Turn left (south) onto US-77 for 2 miles. Turn right onto TX-71 East for 34 miles. (Pass through Smithville and Bastrop) Exit and turn right onto FM 969 for 29 miles. (Once you reach Austin, FM 969 will become E MLK Blvd.) Turn right onto US 183 North. Exit onto MoPac (Loop 1) North. Exit at Braker Lane and the Circuit City will be on your right. Turn-by-turn directions for the Austin to Llano segment (75 miles total): Turn left from Braker Lane onto MoPac (Loop 1) south. Exit and turn right onto Loop 360. Turn right onto Bee Caves Rd. (FM 2244) for 11 miles. Turn right onto US-71 West for 2 miles. Turn left onto CR 3238 (which becomes CR 962) for 28 miles. Turn right onto Bird Lane (311) and cross over US-281. Continue on CR 962 for 12 miles. Turn left onto US-71 West for 22 miles into Llano. Turn left onto Young St. If you're interested in going, please respond in this thread. I'll start a list. I'll PM all interested parties closer to the date to confirm attendance. It would also be good to get cell phone numbers before we leave to make sure no one gets lost. Hope to meet some of you Texas guys.

A couple of the guys going live in College Station. Hempstead is about 30 minutes south of there. We picked Hempstead because it's a convenient meeting place from both College Station and Houston.
