Short update on the PF mounts. After a couple weeks, the mounts seem to have settled and the initial slight vibration seems to have gone away and the mounts feel like stock now.

The mounts do make the engine sit a wee bit higher than stock or VT mounts. I have a Technocraft kevlar intake and after I installed the PF engine mounts, some parts of the intake started rubbing against the hood. The Technocraft intake bulges up and is much higher than stock, so I don't think you will have this problem with stock or any other aftermarket intake that I am aware of.

Rubbing areas marked in red below. It's very slight so I'm just gonna live with it.

That's a very interesting CF elbow, how is it that a stainless steel clamp sits on top of the Carbon Fiber and secured down? Isn't there supposed to be some kinda rubber coupling that protects both the plenum mouth and CF elbow that mates them together?

Yeah that's how Technocraft makes their kit. I won't recommend them, fitment isn't the best. I got this kit used for cheap so I can't complain.

Thank you so much for this, and all the other members on this board. I almost pulled the trigger on the VT's due to the hype, but thanks to other feedback and yours along with the customer service you described this is a no-brainer.

Oh yea, the heat shield is a great idea

My VT mount is destroyed as well after only 30,000km or so. Installed 4 years ago and did only 12 track days during the span. Getting it change tomorrow so I'll see exactly how bad it is then.

Here are my VT mounts that came off the car today. Not as bad as I thought, but the passenger side was rattling.

Installed on Jan. 25, 2018 - 30,000ish km and 12 track days.

Yours don't look as bad as mine, at least the rubber isn't torn. It appears it's always the right side (US passenger side) mount that fails.

Wild! I never been drawn to aftermarket parts that overcomplicate or add more moving parts to an originally simple factory design.

Problem is the stock mount design sucks. It's prone to heat damage and doesn't last.

Looks similar to the condition of my my binned mounts. The rubber degrades quickly, expensive paperweight.

Can you just replace the rubber on VT mounts?

^ IIRC they were originally marketed as being serviceable with rubber inserts available separately but at some point they stopped offering replacement inserts.

VT designed these mounts to be serviceable. Except VT refuses to sell you the replacement parts to service them.

I just had my VT motor mounts fail on me. I've had them on the car for 30,000 miles and the passenger mount was completely destroyed. The driver side was cracking and pretty bad too. I switched to the Powerflex mounts without the stiffening rods and it is much better. The Powerflex has a bit more vibration at idle but I'm hoping that settles down a bit. I also added the e46 heatshields to add a bit more protection.

Since I put the VT mounts on, it was primarily street with a good amount of canyon carving.

Those of you having issues with VT mounts, are they street version of race? I have the race version, 0 issues. Based on their design, the top bolt threads through the rubber and acts as the bolt that holds the motor so you cannot over tighten the top bolt.

I chose VT because it adds little or no NVH since it's rubber based with a metal cup as fail safe once the rubber fails. Delrin or Poly are terrible material for mounts as they do not absorb high frequency vibration well so you might as well go full solid at that point.

Although the rubber on VT mounts are high grade, the primary cause of rubber failure is heat. The mounts are right next to the glowing red headers under load. This is the same reason why any mount fail, even OEM. Motorsport S65 engines has the heatshield I believe, production don't. I'll see if a vendor can come up with a heat shield bracket solution for this and get back with you guys. The E46 mount heat shield seems to be a good start, but isn't large enough IMO to shield in the area where needed.

VT Race mounts here that have been on the car for at least 3-4 years now with no issues. Granted it's not a daily but haven't had any problems so far and nothing to indicate a failing mount.

I think the ones that failed have all been Street versions. Failure is one thing, but to fail so much sooner than stock mounts negates the reason to get VT mounts in the first place. Furthermore, the lack of customer service is unforgivable. I even offered to buy the replacement rubber bits and all I got was silence.

On the other hand, my Powerflex mounts have been awesome! And +1 for lifetime warranty.

Was getting a strong vibration everytime i would come to a stop or light. At first i thought it was my bbk but after further investigating i noticed my driver side motor mount had no rubber and the left side was on its way out, i knew that was the cause of it. Had to do an emergency run to oreillys since it was a sunday and had to go to work next day. Sure enuff they had some in stock, dont even know the brand but once i got home, installed them, drove her around a few miles...Vibration stopped. I am really dissapointed with the VT mounts, they are garbage! I trully do not recommend them. Only had them for 6 months and this is the outcome. I emailed them but no reply

I’ve had excellent luck with Power Flex engine mounts. 5+ years and not a single issue and only a minimal increase in NVH.
