Drop a picture with outside temp and oil visible. It's hot as shit in Cali and I'd like to get comparisons.

2011 E92 DCT - Stop and Go 3 mph traffic in 113.

Same outside temp but I was actually doing >65mph so engine temp decreased to almost normal.

It reached about 100 degrees here in NY last week and my needle went up as high as middle of the "0" in the 210. It usually moves between the "2" and the "0" though normally.

Is that oil temp in OP's pic normal? I've never seen mine go that high but I've never seen it hit 113 degrees either. What's the highest the needle can go before you should panic?

Your question is why I posted this. For me this is the high of my car temps during 5 years of having it. It's not normally 116 in LA. Typically I am dead nuts on 210 or at the 0 in 210 and that has been in mid 90's maybe 100. Last year in Palm Springs it was 117 outside during a friends wedding and I had roughly this same temp by gauge. I was kinda hoping some other SoCal, Arizona, Nevada or Texas M drivers coulda posted some pics to gauge my cooling system. I think I'm gonna go with the do88 radiator soon. So I'm curious about temps in this weather.

I love seeing such high odos, gives me faith in this cars longevity

Mine will occasionally creep a tiny bit past the middle line, but only after a bit of spirited driving in the current 10-15C weather here in Melbourne Australia. Generally sitting just before the middle line at the moment.

In about 6 months it’ll be hitting early to mid 40C so will check back then

In 90-95 degree humid DC weather last week I was just a bit to the right of 210 driving 80 mph on the freeway with a/c on. It was the first time I'd seen it on anything other than 210 so I am not surprised to see OP's in stop and go traffic at 110F.

Mine will do that in south Florida heat but more so if I'm messing around in the higher rpms. If sitting in stop and go, it hovers just over the 210 mark by a couple needles. Using liquimoly right now but will be going back to Bmw shell as I saw lower temps with it

No photos to share, but it has been consistently high 80's to low 90's in Wisco the past two weeks, and my temp gauge hasn't gone much past 210 in stop and go driving, freeway it will hover right below 210. Car is a 2012 and dct, twin power 10w60 always.

Also in Wisco and mine will hover right around the 210 range, typically noe more than one needle width to either side of the marker.

OxCoE92, where is Wisco are you?

Probably normal. In 90 degree NJ humid heat, my car has slipped past the "0" in 210. Nothing to worry about IMO.

There is no oil temp on your gauge so the picture doesn't help much bud. Thanx anyway

lol I was just showing the outside temp. Oil temp would stay dead centre at 100C in stop/go traffic. It'll drop slightly below 100C on the highway.

I noticed mine has been going just slightly over the 210 mark occasionally.
I don't recall it ever going past 210 before. Is that normal?

How high is it supposed to go if we push the car a little bit?
Sometimes mine get as high as OP's picture if I'm keeping rev high'ish (say keep rev at least 4000rpm) even it's not particularly hot outside...

I use Liqui Moly oil, but I needed to add a qt so I used a bottle of Castrol recently and I noticed my oil temps have been higher than normal like in your pic - both 10w60.

Before, my temps stayed around 210. Anyone else experience this?
