OP, if you know them in real life, you should show them this
Therefore they will think the S4 is much faster than the R8 v8

Road and Track S4 test:
0-60 4.4 secs 0-100 11 secs 1/4 mile 12.9 @108.8 secs http://www.roadandtrack.com/var/ezfl...564774ca35.pdf now if you're talking about S6: July 2012 Car and Driver test for the new S6: 0-60 3.7 secs 0-100 9.2 secs 0-130 16.1 sec 1/4-mile 12.1 sec @115 the AWD and DSG of the S6 allows it go hook up quickly and go, but the car runs out of breath and lack power on the top end. The new M5 will do 0-130 in 13.1 secs, and trap 11.9@123 in the 1/4. So yes S6 is that quick but it's not "fast". The point is, 0-60 doesn't mean shit. It shows how quickly a car can come out of the digs. It's like some Olympic 100m runner saying, I can beat the Usain Bolt in the first 10 meters, yeah and then what happens? Nothing looks more out of place on a track than a nose heavy Audi S6/S4. http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test Spec sheet: http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...-e63-amg-1.pdf Last edited by mdosu; 08-26-2012 at 05:56 PM.. |

btw in the google images search, anyone noticed that when you type in "Audi S4 track" or "Audi S6 track" there are basically no pictures of a these cars at a track? (outside of a magazine photo op) Sort of speaks to what this car was designed for.
you type in "BMW M3 track", well we all know what we get...Nurbergring, GTS, ZCP |

Thanks for the video, appears the RS5 certainly has a traction advantage, otherwise the M3 seemed to keep up fairly well. The grill on the RS5 though is something else.

As far as the Audi faster than the M3, that may be true in a straight line but on a curvy road I'd take the M. Fast in a straight line is fun but if you lose them on the turns that's so very satisfying! |

this is funny, the only audi that is worth considering in r8 period (but there is a better and cheaper car called 991s)
Don't get me wrong audis are great cars but with no soul. Unfortunately new bimmers are becoming like that (F10, F30) - so sad.

I don't get why people go crazy about who's car is faster. There are plenty of cars out there that are faster than the M3. Hell a boosted Civic will eat this car, but at the end of the day all these other car is still not a M3. IMO the real competition is GTR, GT3, C63 AMG.

lol S4 vs M3. Crazy talk.
The S4 is outclassed by everything in it's class. Why Audi mounted the engine so far forward is beyond me or why they gave it tiny brakes. Does Audi race the s4 in any series or use the supercharged V6 in any series? I'd rather own a 335 than an S4. More mod head room and I know it's not going to fall apart like every Audi does. I can also take the 335 to track days and not worry about a nose heavy, understeering, 4000 pound turd running into a wall because it's cute little brakes overheated.

This is the number one reason why 0-60 is basically pointless. An EVO X can actually beat the M3 the first 500 yards. After that, it's the M3 that dominates. I'm really afraid to own an Audi since they have been going to the direct-injection route. Lexus IS250 owners are now facing a problem with carbon build-up since the IS250 motor is direct-injected. Some S4's and Gti's with the FSI direct injection motors also have a carbon build-up problem. Anyways, I've been reading a lot on RS4's. These cars had the first gen direct injection V8 engine and boy, it was a huge problem. You need to open the engine every 20K miles to clean the valvetrain (intake manifold and the valves) due to the dreaded carbon build-up. Besides the carbon build-up problem, RS4's are famous for their drc leaking. The RS4 is a nice all weather car, but the carbon build-up is a small price to pay for owning one. If i'm living in an area that sees a lot of snow, I would not mind owning the RS4 due to it's AWD capability. Since I live in sunny California, M3 all the way!
