4sevens,
There is a 30 day gauranteed satisfaction. Where are you at with Michelin on this?

Haha I don't think they'll take it back. This was from a single track day. I bought it at tirerack.com

Pretty much any true street tire without a track alignment will look like this after some tracking.

In spite 4sevens PSS epic fail I'm going to stage these in. I ordered a set of 275/35/19s for the stock 220M rears.

I don't see how you could expect Michelin to give any comeback on that tyre....the way its worn it looks like its been driven down the road sideways.

It is a good cautionary tale of what can happen when a street tire goes to the track. Not that this always happens, but you can definitely kill a street tire in one track day.

4sevens, just looking at the wear pattern it seems a little more negative camber would be a good idea. Outside edge is cords, everything to the center is about bald, but continuing across, by the time you get to the inside shoulder it's 4-5/32".

I think this is an extreme case, especially for a tire like this and how its marketed to the public.

I agree with this... there is NO WAY that Michelin would release the successor to the PS2 that would perform like what is depicted above. Besides, all of the track videos, etc that you see for this tire show no signs of this issue. Either a bad set of tires, something out of whack with the car, something wrong with the tire pressure, or he just really pushes the car past its limit and is an amazing driver.

The PSS should hold up better than a PS2 and I have never seen a PS2 do this in one day.

I was at the track on Saturday and ran my street tires, which are PS2s because we had a lot of rain in the morning. I run around -2 camber and wear was pretty even. I understand that these are NOT track tires so I was not expecting them to be spectacular after some abuse, but they held up at least.

Right...

More like overdriving the car and/or driving it with a bad alignment

I agree it is an extreme case. I didn't want to imply that if you take a street tire to the track, this WILL happen, but I did want to make people aware that it CAN happen.

If the car is understeering for example, ease up a little bit on your corner entry speeds, otherwise your tires are going to die.

Garage List
Pilot Super Sport in the wet...

On the first day of the 2011 Tire Rack One Lap of America, the first challenge was the wet (with sprinklers) 200' skidpad g-load competition.

Before the start, Brock Yates Jr. in a 550 BMHP BMW X5 M took to the skid pad to demonstrate how to do the run... First two green flag timed laps counter clockwise and then two laps clockwise. Lowest elapsed time (and therefore highest grip) wins. He set a baseline just over .80 g.

This very competition set off with the top-seeded cars going first. This included Modified Subarus, EVOs and GTRs...

Our car was #18 and it came our turn. I was the first in the entire field to beat Brock's score with a g reading of .826. We took first place in this competition, briefly leading the entire event.

PILOT SUPER SPORTS are REMARKABLE in the wet... They seem to be holding up very well in the overall competition this week as well.

Bravo, Michelin.

PS: This photo cribbed from one of Tire Rack's online photo albums. If this was from the Woodward family, or someone else at TIRE RACK, Thank you very much!

Michelin are releasing the 265/35/19 June 1st. Holding out for them. Probably take a few weeks to hit stores.
