They have 2, including the driver. DCT doesn't require the use of the hands, so there's no shifting to get in the way of your female companion. I don't think I can allude any further than that and keep it PG.

Wife gives me shit because I only drive in bare feet since moving to FL - don't want my flip flops getting caught under the pedals...

I prefer Toms with no socks. Barefoot like, but more reassuring grip.
As this reason I wear safety boots, which is very protective stuff, one can use this stuff when they are in work or in the area which is slippery. I usually wear this boot whenever I go for adventure places and before that my feet got harmed due to an sharp object after browsing somehow I found this niche blog to protect my feet from these kind of conditions I use this. It gives a lighter feel and good material used.

Nice bump of a classic Merlin_83 thread. A few DCT vs 6MT references (how could that happen?) and a "Sunsweet" reference for those in the know. Oh and Flying Ace having no idea what his stick is used for. Some things never change.

I dislike driving with no shoes, without a base against the floor its harder to pivot. My favorite driving shoes are Onitsuka Tigers as they are thin soled with a lot of feel.

I'm using similar style Reebok and Nike Sneakers for real "driving".

During the current heat wave here in Germany I've driven my DCT ( ) M3 barefoot couple of times. I moved the seat slightly forward to get a better pivot point and was coasting / cruising more than actually driving the car.

In really crazy situation I carry not only my flip-flops but also proper shoes with me.

Same appears for all my cars though, automatic or manual transmission.

Good ol' Sperry docksiders for me
Super flexible sole.
(....am paranoid of having my feet 'naked'
In the car. As a drummer I'd be devastated if I injured feet in a crash, or anything else)

Guess what everyone?? I still drive barefoot whenever possible!!

I can 'feel' the clutch engaging while I select next gear...and tapping the throttle for the occasional blips and rev's is super fun!

This long and very hot summer has me going and coming back from work with no shoes or socks.

I keep Van's slip on shoes (checkered of course) in case I have to stop at 7-11 for Red Bull and snacks.....or like Spicoli said, 'Hey Bud Let's Party!!!'

Y'all should try it - so awesome !!!

Cheers,
Merlin

too bad you can't find the original speed cat anywhere these days.

Definitely agree w/ whomever suggested driving shoes, aka loafers. find a good pair made of quality leather (easily under $100) and you'll never want to drive in anything else. Only thing is they're not really made for long distance walking so they do tend to wear our more quickly.

I went barefoot at the beach one trip and kept thinking I'd snag my pinky toe in the clutch or something. :

I think the pumas get my vote.

Senna could have driven with hip waders and given lessons on heel-toe shifting.
