I personally think the speed cloth seats look sharp, primarily because of the symmetry with the striping on the bottom cushions. The one thing that would prevent me from ordering the speed cloth interior however is the cloth paneling on the door. For some reason, that looks cheap to me.

Wow, makes you wonder what F430 Scudaria owners were thinking when they paid 250K+ for their cloth interiors....

A few weeks ago, I was at South Bay BMW and saw out in front a totally stripped down AW E92 M3. It had the cloth interior and no options and the sticker price was really low. That car is totally a track rat...

I personally liked cloth on E36 M3, but completely turned off by it on E46 and E9X. Maybe because E46 and E9X are more luxurious machines than E36 ever was or will be. Of course it's a matter of taste and if your reasons are practical (enjoy cool surface during summer, warm during winter, less sliding on track), then it makes sense so-to-speak. |

Actually to split hairs leather is easier to clean, but more difficult to maintain newish looking.
Regardless, $900 can buy lots of sweet mods, so I do get it |

Speed Cloth is surprisingly nice
On Wednesday I attended a BMWCCA track day at Laguna Seca.
TC Kline brought his new E92 M3 Alpine White with Speed Cloth. The first time I looked at it, I thought it was leather. Upon further review, realized that it was cloth. It looked great and felt great. It will be my choice. My current E46 M3 has cloth as well. E46 cloth is not as nice as the E92 cloth. To the poster who said "cloth in a $70k car?" I say that with cloth I can get the car down below $60k. I want the engine and chassis. |

Well I got the premium package & the more I think about it, the more I regret getting it (although bluetooth, powerfolding mirrors & Homelink is nice) since I want the Speed cloth (front) seats now. Oh well...If anybody local wants to swap their Speed Cloth front seats + cash for my all-leather (black of course) front seats then PM me your offer & condition of the seats. You must have heated seats & Premium audio (subs in the bottom of the seat I think). Thx!

Or 10 or so tanks of gas.
The most succinct and best point made on this forum for quite some time. That should be the reason and only reason to spend such a large amount of capital on a M3. |

Best pics by far. Thx! Dang it, I should've gotten speed cloth. My offer still stands for anyone local or I can meet halfway as long as it's not too far:

Cloth on M3 seats can't be beaten. It's just the coolest option, imo.
And these may be lowly Peugeot seats, but their velour and padding is so soft, I'd never want them in leather and were worth the meagre £950 I paid for the car alone (not my seats in the picture BTW, mines a 5-door)

That's actually the alcantara seats; the cloth looks different. I'll post a picture my interior and exterior. Speed Cloth is arguably nicer than what we were offered with the E46.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this alcantara version available only in Europe? It looks nice!

Nice checkered cloth on the E46, would look out of place on an E9X though. I'm a big Speed Cloth fan too Unfortunately mine is coming with Black Novillo leather, honestly I would much rather have the cloth.

The leather-to-cloth-seat swap is nice in that you'd get the leather doors. Probably not worth the hassle/price to plan it that way, but kinda cool for anyone who wants to change and can find/arrange a doner.
