Had an oil analysis done before xmas .... copper readings are at 8ppm :\ Time for bearings I guess.

I changed my oil after 14k km and 15 months on the weekend and posted the sample on Monday. It would be an interesting analysis. My previous oil change interval was 15k km. Interestingly though, I didn't have to top up my oil this time. Usually I top it up twice between changes. Does this mean the bearing clearance has normalised and not burning oil any longer?

Mark, How did you come to the conclusion that it was time to undertake rod bearing swap? does your copper reading significantly exceed the expected average levels for 60k milage m3?

I ran my previous oil for 12k km and had 13 ppm and Copper 3 ppm. At the time the engine had 65,659 km. As I said before I have run a bit longer! Awaiting analysis.

Looks like the oil was changed recently when you bought the vehicle? Have you considered a sample at 5,000km's or an oil change rather than waiting 2 years or until the TBN/TAN was completely knackered? Just curious, thanks. |

UOA states 9,000km OIC but you are doing 5,000km OIC - great, thanks.

Oil burn and top up frequency? Number of times reaching redline?... etc u can recall in the last 13k that may possibly have led to spike in lead? Compared to previous.. Curious on what your thoughts could be..! I'm reaching 100k in my 2009 on original bearings with oil change soon, and will start looking at trends over the next 24 months with oil analysis.. |
