How much does Coding LUX angel eyes to 14.4v affect life span?
Im thinking of coding my LUX H8 160 angel eyes to 14.4v or 14v. My question is, with the community’s experience, what are these bulbs track record with doing this? I bought these in July 2015 and have had zero issues with them. My car is not my daily. I will also be located in Texas and I’m concerned about excess heat buildup.

I don't think you can adjust the voltage. Even if you can, these things are already running hot. I tried to code the dimmer setting via carly but it didn't let me.

If they do not fade when you reduce the voltage (like turning on the head light) what makes you think they will be brighter if you increase the voltage?
Don't mess with it. The driver can take a range of voltage but it will always output the same voltage to the bulb.

I haven't seen the schematics or taken the electronics box apart of the Lux unit, but I'm assuming there is a voltage regulator in there, so regardless of what the input voltage is, the regulator is always feeding +5V to the LED driver. So the higher voltage is just causing the regulator to work harder and turning the extra power into heat. |
