Would it be safe to say that the 335i is a POS compared to the M3?
Just like how the 328i is a POS compared to a 335i?

OK...please stop. You've been indulged enough. The question was politely answered by multiple people. Now after the last post (#67) it's gone full on troll. Please let this thread die now.

Eh, M3 insurance is only $600/year, and I have solid coverage ($250k/500k). My E46 330Ci was still $400/year.

Damn you must be considered real low risk. I'm paying twice that and I'm super happy. I got max coverage and $50 / $750 comprehensive / collision deductibles. I got Geico.

My RE agent & mortgage advisor hooked me up with a local insurance agent. Go with one of those. I was getting fleeced by State Farm before as well.

I had a 08 e90 335 with a G5 JB4 , backend pump gas flash and the car was well maintained. Off the line beating an M3 was not a problem. Freeway speeds I could never get the jump on an M3 and if I got a late start the M3 would always have a car length on me.
Though there is a video with a M4 vs a 335 Cobb tuned where the 335 is not horribly beaten down. Which leads me to believe a FBO 335 running a Cobb tune would crush a e9x M3, unless the M3 was supercharged. So if the choice weather to buy a 335 DD or a M3 that never gets tracked, depends on what your willing to spend on repairs. 335- Rebuilt turbos 3-5k, vanos 200, coils/spark plugs and walnut blasting 600, tune 5-600 M3 - rod bearings 2-3k, transform into mega-beast supercharged 6-10k Hmmmm...

Timely thread. Just upgraded on Monday. Actually have both my 335 and e92 M3 sitting quietly in the garage together this very moment, they seem to be getting along.
Loved and still love my 335, but the M just does feel more special. BYW 335 e90 is for sale if any interest. Clean, 38k miles 2010 manual trans, oem performance pack and exhaust, full service history from original dealership and Carfax on hand |

I came across a 335 when I was filling up at a gas station on RT17 in NJ
He caught up to me right at the electronic tolls before tappan zee bridge going eastbound and wanted to race right off the bat. Honked three times and kept wanting to go at it Fucking NY traffic all over the place. Moron |

This M3 vs 335i debate is so old and tired, and it doesn't improve with age. If the reason you are buying a car is to win the stop light grands prix, save yourself a ton of cash, skip both the M3 and the 335i, and buy a used 5.0 Mustang or V8 Camaro. They are very cheap to tune, and will outpull either BMW from a stoplight. If handling and braking are what you want and you need to be able to seat 4 or 5 people, the M3 is the car to get if your budget allows. The 335i handles and brakes well, but not nearly as well as the M3.

Same insurance cost here, i did look up one local agent but it was not cheaper than geico. Maybe i need to look up more local agents but how do you know their company is not going to be troublesome if you have to file a claim ?

It was 1/3 the M3 cost per year. Statement attached is per year totals. (And I'm set with this coverage. I'm sure opinions will fly about what I need/don't need.)
