What happened to value of my m3?
On the beginning of September I picked up a 2011 M3 w/ 49k miles for $39k out the door. NADA and KBB had the vehicle at that price with a fair suggested price of $38,5xx. Now I look today 2 months later and its suggested is $32K and trade in is $29k. Even with the same miles! I was content with buying the M3 2 months ago because the trade in was $35k but not now, jeez!

Demand changes and the market conditions are not static. Those are just recommendations, it doesn't mean dealers won't give you more if there is a low supply or the car is particularly nice.
Who cares about trade-in value? You're going to get fucked by the dealer on that.

It's not hard to sell an M3. It's a sought-after car.

Those resources are just guides. I'd pay more attention to what people are actually paying (there's a thread specifically on this topic) and/or look at the average asking prices across the web.
These cars seem to hold value pretty well, they're not falling that fast. My X5 on the other hand, it's just crazy how fast it's tanked in value over the past 2 years |

Blue book value is usually a little low on these cars because they don't factor in the enthusiast market, but I think they may factor in the airbag recall and the rod bearing fears. I see a lot of cars listed in the for sale section that don't appear to be selling. Even Kaiv's beautiful e92 is still sitting there.

I see a lot of cars sitting right under the 50k mile mark for sale. Like people drive them right up until the warranty is about to expire. My airbag has been replaced luckily.

Not that I need to sell right now. But if something comes up I would really like to be able to snag the opportunity and not come out completely belly up with my M. Really want a c63 507 edition, or at least test drive it to see if I fall in love.

Probably should decide what you really want before you just buy something!

I know it might not seem like I have in mind what I'm really looking for. But, in reality I know it should have 4 doors, and be fast. I grew out of STI's awhile ago so there isn't very many things that fit the bill.

On the entire first two pages of the for sale section I don't see any cars marked as Sold. Seems like the market has really slowed down on these cars?

I had a 2011 c63 and I loved it, but when coming from an E46 m3 I was craving an E92, and honestly haven't looked back.

where do you guys think the bottom for the e90 m3's will be? Will they continue dropping until they hit $20k or lower?
I have been searching for one, but after reading the OP's post I wonder if I can buy an m3 for significantly less next Summer versus today? Thoughts? |

Winter is the worst time to get a value of a car, generally prices starts to creep up a bit during March -Early Spring thru Summer.
Relax dont worry enjoy the car.. you bought it to enjoy it and not an investment

If anything, prices decline slightly during the winter months so you might have better luck now. I'm not advocating an impulse buy, however -- you should wait for the perfect car to come along (options, colors, condition, etc).
