My "New" 2013- MR/Bamboo Comp - Return of the Mack
Life is crazy, let me start of the thread by saying that. Never thought I'd be back on the E9X forums. In 2013 (12 years ago almost exactly) my 2011 E90 was bought back by BMW due to ongoing/reported issues stemming from a poor service job done by a local dealer. Car had 17,000 miles on it, had it for 3.5 years, and I never fully enjoyed in the way I wanted to enjoy it. At the time it was bought back, I opt'd to wait for the new M4. I had the first non-dealer demo car on allocation and got my M4 in July 2014, one of the first production cars in the states. I owned that car for 11 years, drove it for 26-27K miles and sold it earlier this year to complete the lineage and move into the next natural progression for M drivers. Yes, you guessed it.
![]() For many years, I often found myself searching for the perfect E9X and I always dreamed to get back in one. There were a few opportunities I had to jump on great buys in my opinion, but the stars never seemed to line up. If you know me, you know the cars that I own need to be immaculate and in tip top shape. It's really hard for me to buy something used, unless it's calling my name. While casually strolling IG, I saw one post for this car on M3list. I contacted the buyer, found out he was local and saw the car in person. The gentlemen was the 3rd owner (72 year old man), since 2021 he bought the car with 12,000 miles and only put on 2,400 miles in 4 years. The rest is history, the stars aligned and I made the leap. Back in a E9X and it feels so good! Specs- 2013 MR/Bamboo. Comp. DCT. Pretty much fully loaded. MSRP 76K. The car had 14,409 miles. Here is the listing from Cars & Bids. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KPD...tition-package Since picking up the car, we decided to do some preventative maintenance and I gave the car a full paint correction. Car was in incredible condition, paint was silky smooth but it definitely needed a proper buffing with a machine. You can tell it's been handwaxed but never paint corrected. There was zero rock chips on this thing, and zero dents now (i had a 2 small ones removed by Shane). Oil, I went with the liqui molly oil kit. I do notice the liquid molly tends to run a little hotter than the castrol OEM oil that was in prior. Older oil was like new according to my mechanic, old owner changed it in 2023. I may switch over to the Motul 300V (ester oil) on the next change. I will need to do more research to see who's running the 300V on the S65 here. The car has the original rod bearings. With mileage this low, I'm hesitant to touch them but I am aware they can fail at low miles. I will do an oil analysis on the next change in about a year or so. I don't plan to drive this car more than 2,000-2,500 miles in-between oil changes. Spark plugs were changed (original ones they were like new according to my mechanic but still advisable to change them after 12 years). New bulbs went in (I think my headlights aren't adjusting up and down, need to look into it). Filters, etc. Threw on some 15/12MM MS spacers. Got my Eisenmann Race coming soon, I don't want to waste a mile driving this thing muted. It needs to sing. I will take my time with this one, building it out proper. On the fence between keeping it looking as stock/classy or full motorsport with gold E88s. Let's see what happens. Glad to be back on bimmerpost. Hopefully the bots and scammers go away now. ![]() Last edited by M3ryder55; 10-08-2025 at 11:23 AM.. Reason: Added Pictures |

Picked up a frozen black one from EAG recently. I love all black cars. 10K miles.
Had them do the following prior to transport: *New engine and trans mounts (it's old and they get tired so why not) *Full fluid flush of everything except dct (coolant, diff, engine, brakes) *Add genuine bmw m performance carbon front fangs, rear trunk lid spoiler and Alcantara steering wheel (can't stand without) *replace the evaporator as it was weeping (insane amount of labor and an inevitable issue this gen) *car was already fully ppf'ed thank goodness *add black eisenmann race exhaust (stock is indeed way too muffled) I'll address the rod bearings, throttle actuators and whatever else in due time. The only other aftermarket mod I will be doing is replacing the cast comp bbs wheels with a custom set of three piece y spoke Fikses (they make the Fuchs reps for Singer vehicles), 18x9.5, 19x10.5, to get some fatty ps4s 275/295 steamrollers on them. it'll be exquisitely slammed on a set of ohlins by thanksgiving. I may eventually get the partee intake plenum when they finally settle on a design. I hope I like it enough to make it my final and forever M car. I've bounced around enough S54/S55/S58s as of late. it'll be my erewhon/equinox/canyon car. enjoy both of your smooth v8s! PS also ordered the carbon mirror caps from Euro c o n n e x as the OEM version is NLA (did they get banned here or something?)
