Possible TTRS vs. M3
Hi gents,
Don't hunt me down but i'm considering the TTRS to replace my M3. I've always liked Audi's but my S5 lacked the fantastic perfomance of the M3 so I switched back. Recently with gas the way it is I swapped out my X6 for a mini cooper s and now see the pleasure of a smaller lighter weight sports car. My audi guy called me today and sent over the order sheet for the TTRS options. Performance numbers between TTRS and M3 are close. I would mod the TTRS as well. tuners are getting 450 hp or more out of it moving it into GTR catagory but with a manual tranney. i'm thinking it would be a fantastic little sports car! Thoughts? |

It's interesting how a light weight vehicle "feels". The mini is such a blast to drive, goofy fun. I would love to see a "new lighter weight Z4M with 400 hp coming in under 3600 pounds.

Looks to be a rocket with the numbers being put out. Too bad they can't bring over their DCT version as it's 0-60 is ballistic. C/D even mentioned the car to be so loud you'd want to get to your destination in a hurry or end up going deaf. I'm sure going fast isn't going to be a problem. Damn good looking car. Good luck if you do go for it. Heck, I would if I could.

I drove an older TT, like 05 I think. But not the faster one. I had no interest in the TTS as it didn't offer a stick and can't hang with a M3.
What excited me is the modibility/AWD and manual tranney of the TTRS. Stuff in a bigger turbo and a few other tweeks and you can push 500hp, ouch. Option sheet isn't much but a few goodies listed are: Black 19' rims with red inserts sport titanium exhaust Carbon fiber mirrors Alcantara/leather interior bits Big question is what kind of seats? i hope we get some version of the euro "recaro" type. |

Maintenance with the timing belts and water pumps is a must. Quattro eats tires evenly and quickly. Quattro also makes you look brilliant. Get in trouble...point were you like to be, hit the gas and four wheel drift to your desired spot. Gas mileage was great. Car was loud and that was tiring. I could go on but I don't know of anyone who bought the same car back to back. I would still be in it fit my twins. Fortunately, the last and only V8 m happen to be the coupe who fits my kids bill. good luck. |

Why not the new RS3? Pretty much the same car with a more practical body than the TTRS.

With DCT and launch control, it ran 0-60 in 3.6 seconds in a recent magazine test -- definitely outstanding performance. Street start of 5-60 was only 5.2 seconds, and is much more representative of daily driving. And the US won't be getting the DCT from what I read so performance could suffer a bit from even that 5.2 seconds. When not in boost, it is a 2.5L pushing a fairly heavy car.

I had an encounter (friendly) with a moded TT-S (not the RS version!) on the track last year. According to the owner the ECU tuning, exhaust combo was good for 340bhp and that car was very fast!! Coming out of corner that little car was way faster than the M3.
But no real rear seats so not an option for me as DD. |

Turbos are easy to mod and performance oriented AWD is awesome (unlike BMW's AWD). Together, they are a great combination. You can have massive torque and put it to the ground and claw through the corners.

My DD requirements don't go over 2 seats. And my 'special occasion' car (for the rare occasion that I have to ferry people) is what I ends up as the non-DD. TTRS is pretty sweet. I'm interested in it. Not sure if I'd take it over a used R8, but it would probably be more fun than an R8 (smaller cars tend to be that way). -scheherazade |

I'm ordering a TTRS by this weekend. Our version would have more power at 360hp. I already check it out in the UK and decided to get this car over the 1M and the M3 due to it's all weather everyday car with good power to weight ratio.

ttrs is undoubtedly a great car. imho tires play a larger roll in inclement weather abilities than all wheel drive. as mentioned by others, main issues with the car seem to be noise and harsh ride which can both be bothersome on non-spirited drives.
