2011 e92 M3 color change from Night Blue to Marina Bay Blue Individual
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com This is a link to my first post re the car in 2010. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=404314 As I wished to keep the car because of its excellent condition and the normally aspirated V8, I decided on a color change. Also, the F82 M4 did not interest me because of the turbocharged 6 and its styling. When the new M5 was introduced with the marina bay blue color, I decided to have a restoration level paint job done in that color. Attached are images displaying the original night blue, disassembly, primer stage, finished paint prior to polishing, and the final product. Overall I am extremely pleased with the result. |

Wow! Looks amazing.
Not many people would repaint an Individual color car. That said it's your car and it came out perfect. Did u consider a tow hook mount front plate and patching up the holes in the bumper? I bet the VA mountain roads make for some great driving. Enjoy!! |

wow
this might be a first, repainting an individual color car in different color. why was getting it wrapped vs. painted not an option for you?

Wow ! Did your painter match or exceed what the factory does in terms of 'flawless' paint?
Also how come no wrap instead?

Wow, that’s very very bold to respray an individual car. Beautiful in both ways, but why not vinyl wrap??

Can't say I agree with this. Where's the unappreciate button? Hahha jk!
Shoulda patched the license place holes. That's more stock than punching a license plate holder on there I could never repaint an individual color.

What’s the deal with people suggesting wrap. It looks like crap up close and the jambs don’t match looking even worse. Am I the only person who doesn’t like wrap?

A good wrap person can do jambs for a little extra $ and pull all plastic exterior bits (door handles, trim pieces, headlights/taillights) and tuck everything underneath nicely and you can't tell the difference. Just depends on who you get doing the work.

I also would never wrap an individual color. I guess i'd rock the individual color with pride!

How much did that cost ?
I'm thinking $4600 - $5500 Is that about right? And kudos for having the courage to do it, i.e. painting over Indy color

Looks like you had it done right. Looks good, especially with the interior.
I wouldn't paint an individual car, especially a 1 of 1, but it's your car With that said I think it looks like Interlagos Blue, that's what I would think if I saw it going down the road |

Also curious of the price range. Always hear people speculating prices, but so few people actually go through with the color change, so never really see an accurate number.

I have to admit I like the brighter blue. But I guess I'm nostalgic for my old Estoril E36 M3. Still my favorite color even though BMW has put it on non M cars.
Old school paint jobs with wet sanded primers can look outstanding! I'm sure you'll enjoy your car even more. |

Interesting choice to go for a full repaint...OP, curious to know why did you choose MBB? Did you consider any other colors? I think SMB or YMB would look stellar on the E9X chassis...
IMO MBB doesn't look too far off of LMB or IB... |

It's hard to tell in pictures. Lmb and IB look very similar in pictures but different to the eye.

Wow, the end result is fantastic. A wrap never looks good once you get within 10 feet of the car, you did it right. 1 of 1 before, and sure as shit 1 of 1 now!

The end result looks great but you just destroyed an individual 1 of 1 car. Yikes.
If you wanted a different color I'd have sold this one and bought a basic color Jerez or Space Gray and repaint that one. But again the end result turned out good. |
