Playing devil's advocate here, but this is on ST60/ST pads (and driving pretty hard ):

I see how you would want more friction for slicks etc., but I personally don't think running hawk or PFC or whatever will be faster than ST pads on a true street tire. And I only ran through 1/6-1/8 of the fronts at Barber in 3 hours on track.

I was to Roebling Road about 20 years ago and I do not remember it being very hard on brakes on our racecar or the Mustang Rental car that we were using

My point was that he drove that car that hard at every track, every lap. Using ST60/ST40 and ST pads, without cooling. And consistently did sub 2:10 at VIR on PS2's, without ever overheating the brakes. I understand that's an extreme example, but I still think it speaks for the performance of the ST pads with a bbk.

I agree with you about the feel though, it is not so good. But for the price of the pads and the stopping power and the ability to not swap pads it is totally worth that trade off.

I can see this with the bbk having better heat absorption and a smart driver! I did take my car out on the stoptech pads and they weren't terrible...but the feel/and confidence want there. My opinion of you only track them a couple times a year or are in a bind they work...but the extra time/money to change to something more aggressive is worth it!

At Mosport the ST street pads are passable as the brake cycles are a small part of the total lap time at the expense of good pedal feel at the braking limit. At tracks that require a higher duty cycle like WGI,Calabogie they do not work out very well if you want to go fast. They are a comprimise at best for serious track day drivers.Wonderful street pad though!

Love the pagid yellows and happy with stock rotors and brakes so far.
2 days & 80 laps now, RS19 are practically over. Almost same goes with every set of pads, regardless of bedding in properly (I guess). I have cooling & CF backing plates. Temperature dropped significantly with 3" hoses but pad wearing is still high. I use semi-slicks only and drive hard.

Stock brakes, Pagid Yellow pads, Cantrell Brake Cooling kit, AD-08 (or RE-11) tires.

Front pads last 4-5 hard track days. Front rotors about 8-9 track days.

Wow, I must be easy on my brakes. Just swapped back in my OEM pads for the winter and took a look at the track pads. Admittedly, I only have about 80 minutes on my PFC-06 fronts, but I'd be surprised if I took off 2 mm. Rear stop-techs are down ~25% after 4 track days and a summer of driving. Stock rotors with 35k miles are still more than 1 mm above minimum thickness.

FYI, running on street tires.

I don't know how you'd overheat the ST pads in ST60 on street tires. Maybe running slicks.
I had the ST pads in an ST40 caliper on my 330 with a 332mm disc and street tires. The pad actually lasted pretty good but there was no bite. Then there was less and less as the weekend went on. I could be just used to the PF01s which have a lot of initial bite...probably could use a little less.

I believe ShadyD1 has rldzhao's old ST60 BBK and was using those ST pads. He kind of sold me on trying them on the track.

I might have to try them again.

Yeah the feel isn't great and the bite isn't great, but both are more than enough for street tires in my opinion. If I was running slicks I'd probably switch to PFC. But I'm really impressed with ST pads on ST60 for a very streetable pad. And the pads are cheap, which rocks.

I'm glad you're enjoying the ST60s, Trey
I've been saying the ST street pads are an awesome value, every since I've gotten ST40s on my old E46! It seems people's experience differ though (but each one is consistent). Driving style might have to do with it!
