Seriously? You'd want to meet some of the crazies in this forum? Not in the next 10 lifetimes for me, thank you very much.

Same here...wouldn't want to meet the crazies that are on here either. Now the genuine, interesting people that are on here - different story. I'd meet them potentially. But realistically, geographic issues make that extremely unlikely.

OP - Which ones have you been to in Dallas? If you're looking for BMW or car-related community, you could also try some of the local FB groups (ex. NTBC).

I've used meetup.com a couple of times while visiting Korea, but didn't get much out of it (or at least no long term friendships) other than briefly spending some time with people my age. It does allow for you to be exposed to opportunities to meet others that you wouldn't normally, though.

What has everyone else's experience been with Meetup?
Which groups did you find were the weird ones?

I almost went to some meet up from a frugality forum, but then I made the wise choice and felt that one of two would probably want to go forage in the forest for lunch.

- Mom's club sounds fun. Then I realize that the more I learn about people the less I like people.

Hmmm, I need to find one of these imagination ones for weightlifting.

I'd love a way to meet wierdos; I'm up to my neck in mindless squareheaded plastic-smile fakery and it gets hard to take.

Then get on meetup & go to town. Join a furry group & report back.
